I think you are taking best scorer too literally.

So you're saying when people are saying best scorer, they aren't literally saying best scorer? I don't think you can take the moniker of "Best Insert Anything" too literally? You're either the best at it or you aren't.

I guess if you're saying Durant is the most all-around capable scorer, fine. But really the best scorer at the end of the day is the guy that's going to score the most. It's not like MVP, there's no ambiguity to the notion that the best scorer isn't the guy that has scored the most.

Last night specifically, KD was the best player on the floor.

i think it's just that simple.

Sure, yet not as good as LeBron in game 1.

Definitely not. LeBron has been on another level these whole playoffs.

But i don't think anyone was saying he was.

The only reason has a career scoring average .1 higher than KD is because KD is on the Warriors. He has suffered some scoring drop because of those around him.

I don't know, it annoys me.

"Best scorer"...

Yet LeBron has out outscored him significantly this whole playoffs. And this series.

But LeBron has to outscore him. It’s a terrible comp.

KD has 2 other elite scorers to share that with..LeBron doesn’t.

He also gets looks LeBron doesn't, because of the other superstars.

That is a poor argument, sorry. Just cherry picking cheap narrative because the evidence doesn't agree.

He has gotten those looks his whole career.

fair enough. No one is saying Durant is better than LeBron overall.

I'm just trying (though I've been guilty of it too) to enjoy watching some of the greatest players and one of the greatest teams in league history, and not try to get caught up in all the who's better than who stuff as it really doesn't matter.

I don't want to take anything away from KD, or his mastery last night.

I am just arguing against that false statement. Again, not only does LeBron score more, he's responsible for waaaaaayyyyy more scoring than KD. That should factor into this too IMO.

SSS... LeBron had about 2.0 more PER than KD this season.

Nice attempt.

He's averaged 37.7 points/9 rebounds/10.7 assists in The Finals. And had a triple double in game 3.

His 51 point game 1 performance was the second Finals game in which he's scored or assisted on 70 or more points... one of just 3 players in NBA history to do so. One of 6 in NBA history to drop 50+ in a Finals game btw.

Outside of pushing human cloning through Congress and creating 4 more of himself, there's not much more he could do to step up.

Hes a poor leader. Not a leader of men. His cast around him consistently gets trashed when they play next to him. Fairly or unfairly. And when its fair that the teammates are struggling how much of that is because of the inability to mesh effectively with LeBron. He doesnt make players around him better. Moreover, he's essentially the GM. At minimum he signs off on a particular player but very often hand picks players on the roster. You cant cry about the team you put around you.

I have to admit I'm a tad confused with Ricker's stance here.

No one is claiming Durant is "better" than LeBron, just that he had an amazing game last night. LeBron was terrific but at this point it's what's expected, fair or not.

Durant is definitely a better shooter.  GS having the pure shooting ability of Curry, Thompson, and Durant is remarkable.

James the better overall player.  I think Durant is the better scorer, and I don't see how it's a poor argument to say that he would figure to score less than James currently... when he has other scorers on the roster.  Yeah, do think Durant (and the others) get better looks because of the total cast, but Durant could get baskets with his surrounding cast being Ricker, Seth, Rob, and Nickle.

Cleveland's team is better than advertised.... but it shouldn't be held against James that he (1 MVP) is not good enough on his own to beat 2 MVPs, and 2 other All-Stars.

James' Game 1 was one of the best performances we've ever seen.

And make no mistake this is the worst version of this GS run. Stand by what I said during GM 2. At least at that point without AI. They're essentially as talented as Cle. They were going to lose that Hou series if Paul doesnt get hurt. The West is no longer a forgone conclusion going forward.

Weber will say that Cle being routed in the Finals is more if an indictement for some than if they had lost in the Eastern Conference. Its not, but what it tells you is how easy the path is and has been for years in that conference. The 8 straight Finals are a joke and mean nothing. If the rules had been implemented where they dont do playoffs by conferences and just reseed 1-16 in the playoffs James would be lucky to have half of those Finals appearances and likely has less than 3 rings.

People claiming Durant is the better scorer than LeBron, I disagree.

I'm confused at how that is confusing honestly.

Yea I don’t know what his stance is either...I guess he feels LeBron is a better scorer than KD but he also seems to be arguing things no one else is.
