Went ahead and bought two PSLs for $500 each. These were a lot more expensive a few years ago.

My PSL was 6K for both, 26 rows up, upper deck on the 45ish yard line.  Wow only 500 a piece?  I wouldn't buy them again but the market drop off is staggering.

Yep...the PSL is a one time fee. His tickets will probably be $1500 a year, give or take.

He stole them.

I bet he could sell those PSLs in 5 years and make good money...assuming they return to winning.

I'm curious how good of an investment it would be to throw a ton of money into a bunch of PSLs while they are at (presumably) rock bottom prices and then see how much they go back up in a few years if/when the team is better and perhaps some of the leaguewide issues driving values down like the anthem protests have gone away.

 

I think it is a pretty intriguing investment opportunity.  If you can sell the tickets and make back most of your annual costs (or if you get personal value from going to the games like I bet Pedro does), you could perhaps see several fold increases in the cost of the PSLs in fairly short time.

Eh. I thought that I was making a decent investment too, but I bought at a peak time, and thought it would always appreciate in value like real estate does. However there are factors that effect the price of the PSL that don't come into play in real estate. Is the team good? Is the NFL still popular? What are the politics surrounding the league?

Right now it's at its lowest. Good time to buy. But I wouldn't really consider it an investment. There are just too many factors at play that fluctuate year to year.

I'm sure the next wave of new stadiums will adjust accordingly. It's only a matter of time before 45-50k is considered a well attended game.

Ballparks used to be a lot larger than they are now. Even discounting the multipurpose stadiums of 65,000-plus seats, Dodger Stadium has 56,000, renovated Yankee Stadium had around the same, and Skydome was built to hold 50,000 for baseball. Oriole Park had a capacity of well over 48,000 when it opened, and it was considered small. Since then, though, even as overall attendance has increased, teams know that 99% of the time they aren't going to have the demand of a 50,000-person crowd, so it makes more sense from aesthetic and logistics perspectives to build closer to the "normal" crowd size.

 

We've already seen the blackout rule go a few years back. That was a canary in the coal mine on the way the NFL saw attendance moving.

I think NFL stadiums could reject that logic, though sound... especially those who have fantasies of hosting a Super Bowl. I wonder if the league has a min. Capacity standard for SB hosting stadiums? I would bet they do.

If I recall ford field isn’t that big and they hosted one

True, wasn't aware of their capacity, but that wall of suites/no upper deck on the one sides probably makes that one of, if not the smallest capacity stadiums in the league.

Pretty sure Lucas Oil Field is the smallest stadium in NFL and they hosted one too.

 

Basically, if you have a dome and 50K seats, you can host a SB.
