Weeks into the season, he is still in Norfolk, leaving questions on what to make of Pedro Alvarez’s future with the Orioles.

My guess is he opts out. Would like to see him stay. At some point his bat will heat up and there will be an injury up here. When his bat gets hot it's a real plus against RHP.

The question is would you drop Kim for Alvarez. I would. I think his defense won't be worse, his baserunning is a little better, and his bat against RHP will be better.

OBP vs power, we know what direction the Orioles usually choose.

OPS was 50 points higher than Kim's last year. His OBP wasnt too bad either. Kim brings no SLG ability.

I think they'll release him, he'll prepare to sign with Toronto and minutes before they ink it, Jones will pull an oblique....Alvarez will come back to the Orioles and play the OF and post a .930 OPS.

I seriously think they need to make a decision on Pedro vs Kim. If Pedro was hitting in AAA it's not a hard decision.

Call him up now.

This. The team can't hit squat right now. Maybe he'll ignite something. This is what I see as a major flaw with Buck. He insists on trotting the same guys out there day after day when they are getting it done. I get the whole play out of a slump. That's not wrong. But it can be done to a fault. Sometimes it looks to me like the players are just going through the motions. They think their job is safe so why sweat it. Perhaps they are working hard in practice sessions but it isn't showing on the field right now.
