So I'm -really- late to the party, but I heard the Hamilton soundtrack for the first time this weekend.

Bruh.

BRUH.

That was -superb-.

Fuck yall for not telling me about this sooner. Met every single piece of hype that I've heard...maybe exceeded it. LOL

It's excellent. Fairly sure I've referenced it in a couple other threads, but probably buried. If you can get your hands on a copy of the play somewhere... also awesome.

Where at? How much did it set you back?

I'm thinking of surprising my wife, because she -loves- plays.

Yeah I've been trying to find tickets reasonably priced, but the cheapest I've seen is 500 a piece.  The way things are going I might wind up waiting until it comes to Baltimore.

Its coming to the Hippodrome.

If you want to see it in NY, stay at the RUI Plaza in NY.  My wife and I stayed there in December.  It was right near Times Sq, was relatively inexpensive and you could throw a stone to where Hamilton is shown.

It's coming to Baltimore, but not until 2019.  And that will be the touring cast, so the Broadway version will be better.

You can go to the Hamilton website and sign up for updates on when new tickets are released.  Even at face value, though, they're really, really expensive.  I looked last time, and I think orchestra seats were something like $700 each - again, that's face value.

I know it's coming here, but I may be able to catch it in New Orleans when I head down there anyway.

I'd rather do NY, but for real...the budgetary constraint is REAL, man.

Broadway.

They weren't cheap. Solid seats for about $450 each including fees. They release blocks of tickets (you can sign up for email alerts) occasionally so that was the list price, not second hand, which is probably what you would have to go through to get any seats for the near future.

It better be good!

I would expect there to be a requirement for purchasing season tickets to the Hippodrome in order to be able to have a shot at Hamilton (without going through secondary sellers), similar to Opening Day with the O's.

Can go to Vegas for 4 days for what it costs to go see some play.  That's just stupid expensive.

As someone who just went to Vegas, you are NOT wrong.

They came out with a quote saying that it's the best way, but not the only way. I assume a lottery will happen.

Once in a lifetime type of experience imo.

But yeah, it's steep.

Ugh!! :)

Btw, I'm not trying to downplay Broadway or anything like that. It's not my thing but I would go see a show. I would like to see A Bronx Tale.

But for $800+??? Hell to the no! You can do so much more with that money imo.

But hey, far be it from me to say what people should do with there money. If that makes you happy, go for it.

Mike mentioned it being a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you feel that way, I think it would be foolish to pass that up.

I wouldn't fork out that kind of money either, just saying between those two options I know what I would rather do.

I'm having a hard time thinking what I would pay $800 to see.  Coming up empty.

The most expensive tickets I've ever bought were about $200 for AC/DC (with the actual members of the band, not the sad farce touring with Axl Rose), but I was 2 feet from the stage.

I would have paid close to 2,000 to see the Ravens win the Super Bowl down here, but I never found a price like that.
