247Sports: Maryland with a sneaky good LB class
All three Maryland linebacker commits are versatile, can play in space, take on guys, checking all the boxes as Durkin and company continue to upgrade this roster across the board.

Big pickup, as he was the team's top OT target in this class.

My mentee also played basketball against him and said he dominated. Maybe he could play 2 sports

Do we have any chance with Eyabi? Number 2 prospect in the country now according to ESPN's top 300. Was just talking to some former students who play with him on St Frances. They say he's an absolute beast, and grades will definitely be a problem.

Definitely have a chance, Durkin is excellent at recruiting defensive linemen, and Jimmy Brumbaugh is leading his recruitment. Alabama and Penn State seem to be the main competition right now (Mike Locksley leading the recruitment for Bama). Still a bit early to tell, but Terps are definitely in the running.

Why would anyone care about early football commitments?

Why would anyone care about early football commitments?
Because they matter... even if some names change. You have to build momentum with classes. "Your in, I'm in."
Some of these early commits probably won't end up in College Park, but that's okay.
If you are a fan of a program, watching how it's built up..... from the recruits, to the verbals, to the LOI, to maybe RS's, to getting on the field... that's a good part of the fun to me.

We only have one class on which to judge, but it at least feels like more of Durkin's verbal commitments stick. Kaindoh was the only one of significance that I remember reneging last year. Be interesting to see how the early signing period impacts things too.
