That is nuts. Makes you wonder what will happen down the road when more of the real stars hit free agency, but teams have a ton of cap space tied up in these mid-level types.

What else are you going to do?

Well the teams have to spend the money...there is a floor.
What else are you going to do?
Just because there is a floor doesn't mean you have to spend up to it. It just means that at the end of the season you have to take the difference between the floor and your payroll and pay that out evenly to all the players on your roster.
For franchises that are willing to be more patient and disciplined this summer, there could be a big payoff down the road. It wasn't that long ago that teams with things like cap space and expiring contracts could acquire very valuable assets on the cheap. That said, I'm not sure how much longer we're supposed to see these enormous jumps in revenue and the cap like we are now. And with the players likely opting to terminate the current CBA next summer, things could change quickly anyway.

They will have to move Kanter but with the way teams are going to spend money, moving his contract shouldn't be a problem.

Centers are the first to come off the board in free agency this year. The Knicks reportedly have a 4-year/$72 million agreement with Noah, and the Lakers have a 4-year/$64 million agreement with Timofey Mozgov.

Good for him. That's a good story.

Lol..4/64 for Mozgov?
We have to adjust our thinking regarding these contracts, but this one is still quite bad.

Nightmare deal for Mozgov
WTF are the Lakers doing?
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

The Blazers reportedly have a max offer on the table for Chandler Parsons, 4-years/~$98 million. If he accepts, the AAV of his contract will be higher than Damian Lillard's. Think about that for a minute.
*smh*
EDIT: He's going to Memphis. Blazers dodged a bullet there (even though they weren't trying to).

Layman would get the chance to watch Parsons everyday. Someone he's been compared to previously.

They could sit next to each other on the bench during games, Parsons in street clothes.

Lol..4/64 for Mozgov?
Or put another way, he will make $4 million more next season than Steph Curry.

This isn't really the norm. The cap just skyrocketed and Steph is massively underpaid because he signed a longterm deal when he had yet to become a superstar and was dealing with chronic ankle issues.

There are obvious circumstances as to why Curry is grossly underpaid right now, and he'll cash in big soon enough. Still, it just doesn't seem right that so many mid-level players, and in some cases that's being generous, will be far out-earning him this season. It's not like he's still under the rookie salary structure.
