The problem is he doesn't trust his stuff. Talk about the K rate and "stuff" but this is the kind that can be deceiving.It's not efficient. It's not knockout stuff. Players are able to extend ABs against him

This isn't entirely accurate. It is from start to start but over the course of a season, this is a guy that has traditionally eaten a ton of innings.
If he goes 6 innings tonight and takes 115 pitches to do it, we agree that's not efficient. But what matters if that he goes those innings and doesn't give up the runs.
What matters for the next start is what he carries over. Is the control shit?
A different ump tonight and things look different. He has had a lot of close pitches called balls.
