@Buster_ESPN: Sources: The Orioles have agreed to terms with Dexter Fowler on a three-year deal for about $35 million.
Edit: damn it all to hell

Let's see how HIS physical goes, first
I wonder why they went three years in this case?

I thought it was 2/24... interesting. An extra year but a few hundred thousand savings in AAV.
The grumblings were 2/24M with an option year, iirc.
I love this contract and the signing. Think he's going to be a great addition to the lineup, especially in the leadoff spot.

Definitely dig the OBP... and even at 3 years... whatever. This is frankly chump change these days. Fact.
But why guarantee the third year? Did you need to do that?
I know this isn't something we can answer right now but that's my only gripe.
Should be a good move.

What numbers were being bandied about as predictions in the early offseason? I know it was considerately more.
4/60ish was mentioned I think.

Fowler became a regular in 2009.
His worst walk% of his career, since 2009, is 11.3%.
His worst OBP is 347.
His worst OPS is 757, which he did twice (including last year).
He isn't going to hit for a high average.
He should be good for 45-50 xbh IF he can play 145+ games.
He should be a solid all around offensive player. Nothing spectacular but his speed/OBP combo is big for us and he has some pop in his bat too. This isn't just some slap hitter.

Considering everytime they sign someone who doesn't sport a solid OBP, Duq's quotes about trying to improve it are brought up, they should probably be brought up here too.
Yes, they signed Trumbo, but they brought back a strong OBP guy, now signed another strong OBP guy, and while Kim is a big question mark, if he's good, you'd expect him to get on base at a pretty high rate as well. They also brought back Reimold and their rule 5 pickup is especially known for his patience (we'll see if they keep him).

Good point.
He is finally doing what he says. Its very nice to see.
But what do you do about the rotation if Gallardo falls through?
