You aren't looking forward to those epic matchups with Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and DePaul?

I take it you are among those salivating at the thought of rekindling the epic series with Wake Forest?

Those Deacons truly are demons.
(Also, for the record, to show how much I really care about this, I thought it was a thread in the basketball forum. But switch DePaul with, I don't know, Arizona or something, and it still makes the point).

I was wondering how you came up with that.
Not every team is going to fire up the fan base, of course, but I'd prefer more OOC games against a Texas-type program that we seldom see them play instead of trying to dredge up old ACC rivalries....which were never really rivalries in a true sense. Oklahoma's AD is a Terp alum, I bet something could be worked out with them. USC has played home-and-aways with Syracuse, BC and UVA in recent years, so they have no qualms about traveling to the east coast. Or how about UCLA? That'd be a fun trip for the players....probably the closest they'll get to playing in The Rose Bowl Game.

Surely you know why playing UVA is a bigger deal than Wake
To some I suppose it is. In all the years I've followed MD football (since Bobby Ross) it always seemed like they were on different trajectories for those games to really be special. Either the Terps were good and UVA sucked, or vice versa. If they want to rekindle old ACC series, do it with Clemson....the Terps have a more interesting football history with them. And while 2023 is a ways away, there's a good chance Clemson will be a more challenging opponent than UVA
The point you seem to be getting at always seemed to me to be based more on UVA having snooty fans than anything about football. Eh. I mean, dook basketball has the same thing going, and hating them is fun, but that has more to do with the on-court history and their arrogant prick of a coach than their obnoxious and entitled fans.

Final Thought: 2023 is so far off that by then MD and UVA will probably both be in the Big 12 and playing annually anyway, so I'm over it.

SB Nation: Big Ten teams are allowed to schedule FCS opponents again, sometimes. Should they?
Yuk!
I understand these games serve a purpose for the athletic departments, but from a fan perspective they're not much fun at all.

Looking at these schedules gives me some hope for future seasons. If we assume the Terps are trending upward, it looks like the schedule could be gradually more manageable over the next couple of years, making 7 or 8 wins doable.

Testudo Times: Maryland’s Big Ten football schedule for 2020, 2021 announced
Geez, is there some new rule that states all of MD's toughest games must be back-to-back in November?

UM Terps: Maryland adds FCS opponents to future schedules
The Maryland football program announced four future opponents and home dates on Thursday afternoon. The Terps will welcome Howard (2019), Towson (2023), Bowling Green (2024) and Youngstown State (2027) to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium in future years.
Maryland was scheduled to host Bowling Green on August 31, 2019 but that game has been moved to Sept. 21, 2024. The Terps will now host Howard on August 31, 2019.

They modified it. You can play one in years where you only have 4 conference home games. So we'll have to put up with them every other year now.

If they are going to play those games, the Big Ten should have it so all conference teams play the FCS teams that same weekend the SEC schedules their games late in the year.
And if MD is going to play FCS teams, I'd just assume it always be Towson.

Either them or Morgan St....help the MD schools.
