I did a Pop Culture Gulty Pleasures thread a while back. Tops of my list is the album "Door to Door" by the Cars. It's a critically panned album but I love it.

Also, anything NMS likes in terms of pop culture probably belongs in that thread.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Are the Counting Crows something to be guilty about?

About 7-8 years ago I dated this girl for like 6 months. She was the absolute worst: clingy, obnoxious, a cryer, had an annoying tiny dog... She was a huge Counting Crows fan, followed them around a few different summers and had seen them dozens of times. One time we saw them together, they didn't play her favorite song, so she cried for the rest of the night.

Despite that, I still think they kick ass. Einstein on the Beach is the tits.

I love them too, but always think people think they're kind of lame..

I listened to "Recovering the Satellites" on the way home from work today in fact.

I have to ask if you remember what song they didn't play?

It was one I had never heard of and I know it kills the story but I can't remember what it was called. I wanna say "Carousel" but as far as I know they don't have a song called that.

I wouldn't have been able to handle that.

It would be one thing they were her favorite band and this was her one opportunity to see them and if she only cried for a short period of time, but what you describe is terrible.

I'm totally just thinking of songs that begin with C.

Wish I could confirm for you guys. That Catapult song is one I was unfamiliar with, and is really good, so it's a prime candidate. This has been fun.

I consider some rap songs a guilty pleasure due to their reprehensible lyrics.
