Just 9 more full weeks of baseball. Our "bad week" allowance has run dry. It's time to have nothing but good-to-great weeks from here on out, with the absolute low end being an "OK" week. It starts out west tonight and as Seth and Pedro have pointed out, looks like we'll miss Gray and King Felix (next week). But we'll still face some good pitching.

Last week was a strong week... 5-2... let's get at least 4 of 6 from Oakland and LAA.

Mon 8/3 - 10:05 PM - T. Wilson (2.12 ERA) vs. J. Chavez (3.53 ERA)

Tue 8/4 - 10:05 PM - M. Gonzalez (4.28) vs. C. Bassitt (3.10)

Wed 8/5 - 3:35 PM - W. Chen (3.24) vs. K. Graveman (3.84)

Fri 8/7 - 10:05 PM - C. Tillman (4.35) vs. Heaney (1.97)

Sat 8/8 - 9:05 PM - K. Gausman (3.97) vs. Richards (3.38)

Sun 8/9 - 3:37 PM - U. Jiminez (4.04) vs. Shoemaker (4.24)

So who do we root for in this Twins/Jays series?

With all due respect to the season Minnesota is having, i still feel like they won't last.

Twins. Eff the Jays. It'd be best for them to fall back a bit in case they have another one of those prolonged winning streaks in them here down the stretch. Winning streaks are cute when they just catch them back up... but not so much once they're already caught up. Go Twins.

Exactly my thought. Good news is, if we win we'll gain ground on one of them.

Just win our games, and the rest will take care of itself.

Aren't we trying to win the division too? Twins 100%.

Rooting for Minnesota.

Any idea why their game today is at 107?  Weird for a Monday day game to start a series....is there some Canadian holiday I'm not aware of?

Actually I think there is. Don't know what but I heard some Canadians on a podcast saying they have off Monday (today).

It's Canada's "Civic Holiday". They're not even trying to come up with a reason to pretend it's not an excuse to stay home from work.

Lol, I'm gonna try that with my boss some time.

"I'm not working, it's a Civic Holiday, eh."

I think that might sell it better.

When I was up there, it took all my self control not to burst out in laughter every time someone followed up a sentence with "eh".

So funny.

I've really enjoyed my trips to Canada and hold no ill will towards them in any way whatsoever, but yeah...it's hilarious.

I agree with your point that time is getting short... but I don't agree they can't have a bad week... they can... and likely will... what matters is if they offset it with some amazing weeks...

Ever since the AS break, as we start each series, people have been saying "this series is absolutely crucial"... but as we have seen, they haven't all been crucial...

Sure I agree. Point is the same. Time to put it together consistently. Honestly, losing 2 of 4 to that Detroit team at home wasn't impressive. But the sweep of Atlanta makes it okay.

Price goes 8 and strikes out 11 in his Toronto debut... leading the Twins 5-1 heading to the 9th. That's certainly annoying.

Price had the bases loaded and no one out earlier in this game too and they couldn't get anything going...

just keep winning.

At least they beat a team ahead of us. Need to win tonight.

Win and you're in a three way tie for the second spot.

Toronto scares me, but both wild cards could conceivably come from the AL East, so the Jays won't necessarily keep the O's from the postseason.

Angels, Orioles, Jays, Rays and Rangers all won last night.

Angels 2 up in the 1st WC

Twins, O's and Jays tied for the 2nd WC (O's and Twins one up in the loss column on Toronto)

Rays and Rangers both 2 games out of the 2nd WC

O's now 5.5 behind NYY.
