Good for Jake.
The talent was always there. We could not develop it or he could not figure it out. He did, the Cubs won that trade by a little bit huh?

Good for Arrieta. He wasn't the best pitcher in the NL but he had a year worthy of a Cy Young. Its absurd that Kershaw finished a distant third.
Keuchel or Price were both worthy of the award. Slight edge to Price for me but its really close.

Last year Kershaw was an "obvious" MVP choice, this year he's third in the Cy Young and probably won't get much MVP consideration at all. I will never get why last year was clearly an MVP season for him, but the surrounding years don't even warrant a discussion for him being the MVP. Well other than the power of the narrative.
And no, I will not let this go.

Last year he was 21-3. This year, he was 16-7.
Last year, his ERA was 1.77. This year it was 2.13.
He was actually worth about 1 more win according to fWAR this year and the same WAR as last year according to BBR.
So, it pretty much goes back to wins, losses and ERA.

But last year he was lacking innings. Go back to 2013 and look at his ERA and innings.
But yes, some care about the wins and losses more.
However, last year, there were plenty of people that aren't that into pitcher wins that supported him for MVP. It was much more than his win loss record.
