Apparently his daughters live near Lubbock as well.
What a trainwreck of an offseason for UNLV.

Well, he took the Texas Tech job.
Dick move or just doing what's best for him and his family?
Or both?

He was an assistant coach at TTU for 8 years with Bobby Knight and his daughters (I think 3 under the age of 16) live within 2 hours.
I think it's a smart move for him.
Sucks for UNLV, who has had really bad luck/planning with the coach search this season.

Speaking of Texas Tech, new UNLV coach Chris Beard (literally hired last week) might be interested in going to Lubbock, where he was once an assistant.
Weird.

That's insane. (Not that it is or isn't a smart move for him... the circumstance.)
Taking a job... being announced on the 28th.... doing the press conference... and immediately rolling out?
Wow.

People give their word to a university, get up in a press conference and pronounce excitement over getting the job, then leave a week later.
So much for Iron clad contracts.

Didn't Bobby Cremmins do something similar.

Yes, at South Carolina, his alma mater

He quit GT to go back to South Carolina where he had played... said it was the only job he'd leave GT for, because it was like going home... but then a week or so later, he changed his mind and undid it...

It's a dick move. May also be what's best for him.
Yea, this is pretty much how I feel.

Alford has to at least get offered Indiana, no?
I mean, he was literally born for that job.

Haven't they been down that road in the past?
I'm not sure, but Alford has the experience now..No more, Missouri State, New Mexico, whatever...He's ready.

IU's fans will want Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan but there would be no reason why either would leave the NBA.
Their "short" list will likely be Alford, Marshall, Miller, Mack, Holtmann.
