Yes

Why, Pittsburgh's success as a program compared to TCU?  That's certainly fair.

Both great conferences...  TCU with a rapid rise over the last decade with their football success, and the $ invested into the program.

Maybe they are going to spend more on Assistants, and other than what Pittsburgh was?

Haven't looked at recent recruiting history... but wouldn't be surprised if Dallas has as much or more talent than Pittsburgh.

TCU is one of the worst major D1 programs.

The good news is that it can only go up and his expectations will be limited.

Yes. When it's that lopsided it's very difficult to bridge that achievement gap when comparing jobs.

PITT is also a really nice campus in a cool part of the city. TCU may be great in that regard (no idea), but I think it would be unfair to characterize PITT as undesirable in that regard due to the wrong (IMO) negative stereotype of Pittsburgh being an undesirable city.

They just don't love basketball in Pittsburgh.

To be clear, Pitt is obviously tiers above TCU right now... I'm just saying that I understand the move and think Dixon can get that program on the right track.

The move is cool since it's his alma mater. Can't believe he'd make this move otherwise.

You can't compare the 2 jobs.  Pitt was winning BE titles when the BE was loaded.  They have been a solid ACC program.

TCU, perhaps, has upside but Weber is right, TCU isn't on the radar if it wasn't his alma mater.

Pitt may not be a great basketball school but it dwarfs TCU in that area.

Obviously Pitt has been consistently good, and TCU has been consistently horrible...

But TCU looks poised to emerge imo...  right conference, big market, huge fundraising (most in Big 12 during the last 3 years)...  just invested roughly $80M into their Arena (looks nice, is small though).

Don't see the difference between them and say Baylor...  Baylor was regularly horrible in basketball as well...  think they can have a similar path.

Brad Underwood's headed to Oklahoma State.

Mentioned that yesterday, then I heard the Gottlieb rumors.

Makes sense.

Sure...things could become ok.

But it's a garbage job right now and not close to Pitt. Dixon is there because it's his alma mater.

Rumors swirling that Mick Cronin is leaving Cincinnati to UNLV.

Seems like a lateral move but the reports of $2.5M salary (plus Mick's tenure at UC going stale like Dixon at Pitt) must be enticing for him.

That'd be the Anti Jamie Dixon I guess.

I wonder how many guys have willingly left their alma mater for another job?

I don't have the record in front of me, but it seems like he's done a nice job at Cincy over the years.

And how many guys turn down their alma mater, especially where he and his family were somewhat legendary.  Wow.

Jerod Haase from UAB to Stanford..

A Roy disciple takes over for a Duke guy.

So obviously Stanford is going in the right direction!

Started his playing career at Cal (J Kidd's backcourt mate in '93), before transferring to Kansas.

Oh this is rich...so apparently Cronin was offered a contract by UNLV, verbally accepted, went back home to Cincinnati, then said he was staying at Cincinnati.

This just gets better and better.

Mike Dunleavy to Tulane?

That's odd.
