The Euro from beginning to end normally lead to much better overall games than the World Cup. Some great teams with great talent on display in this year's Euro. Prior to the draw I liked the Dutch but with what they have to go through in the group stage, it will be difficult for them (or any other team in that group) to make it to the Championship game.

I think Spain will repeat personally.

Germany and Netherlands are also good.

Ireland (where my forefathers are from) have very little shot to do anything.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Spain seems to be the heavy favorite.

Who after Germany, and The Netherlands interests you? Could you see England, Italy, or France reaching the final?

Heard Lalas talking the other day about how Spain has to replace a few pieces that helped win Euro 2008 and the World Cup in 2010...said that could hurt chemistry some.

Spain apparently has a lot of guys on their team beefing as a result of the Barcelona/Real Madrid rivalry in La Liga.

Could be an issue.

I gotta say I'm pretty amped for this. This is the first "major" tournament since I've started following soccer as more than just a passive fan. Should be some good matches, especially Germany vs. Netherlands (which I predict will also be a re-match in the Final) next week.

Poland will be without their goalie (also the starting goalie for Arsenal) next match. Could be big.

How did Robben clank that gift of a clearance?

I'm watching Denmark vs. Netherlands while I anxiously await Germany v. Portugal. I expect Denmark to play similar to the 2004 Greek team. Pack in at the back and worry about scoring later. It's also not out of the realm of possibility for Portugal to have a complete meltdown. Portugal is lazy, arrogant and can't handle any kind of disruption to their style of play. All through qualification you heard about dissent in the Portugal camp with some key players being suspended from the national team until at least Euro is over. If Denmark wins this game a draw in one of the two final games might be enough to send them through.

Italy vs. Spain tomorrow should also be pretty good for at least 60 minutes. I don't see Italy doing much at all in the group stage. The team seems like it's still in a transition period from 2006. This tournament will be Italy's chance to get players experience for 2014.

I think the toughest group with the most to lose is Ukraine, Sweden, England and France. Ukraine is co-host, Sweden has Zlatan, England is well England and France has to make amends from the World Cup. I would expect England and France to go through.
