2. Back end starter?

3. Front end starter?

Shouldn’t there be a 2 1/2?

More than likely 2 and honestly I think that's good enough. We're not far away from being the top dog and there's no reason we won't becme that by August 1st. Pundits say it's the Orioles then everyone else in the bidding wars. We're calling the shots.

I do think that starter will be like a 3 though. At least I hope so.

I think it's going to be # 2.

Like 85 stated, I believe it will be enough.

I should have been more concise. With my option #3 I meant a starter you have going with Burnes and GRod in the playoffs, i.e., the expectation is he's clearly better than Kremer.

Another quality starter is an absolute must.

You might be able to limp into the playoffs with Kremer, Saurez, and Povich.... but it's gonna be ugly.

You definitely want a quality 3rd starter for a playoff series.

Well, one thing's for sure. They are 8-9 over their last 17 games, and the team ERA's 5.78.

I think it's a fortuitous turn of events to happen now while they can still do something to turn things around. If they had any delusions about riding this out w/the present cast, this proves that they can't.

In a sense, the Baseball Gods have granted them a gift, here.

Hence the reason I started this thread in the first place. I still have my doubts that Elias isn't so hung up on keeping all his pieces that he's missing the forest for the trees.

If the forrest is the big picture, I think that’s exactly what he’s looking at.

I think his forest is some mythical place where having a large bunch of saplings to plant in the future is more important than the actual lumber or fruit mature trees produce. The problem is you have to plant those saplings to bear results. Just having them is nothing more than a warm and fuzzy.

Unfortunately this is all too true. He's gonna have to flip the switch at some point or he's doing the big league club a disservice. Even further I'm starting to feel like we have too many moving parts right now and it's starting to show up on the field. I could be wrong but I think we could use a little more continuity in our lineup. It might not hurt to start letting some this surplus move on.

Well, now that we have Burch Smith, maybe we won't have to do anything.
