Bobby Bundy

Baltimore Sports and Life: “With the 4th overall pick in the 2011 Amateur Draft, the Orioles selected High School prospect Dylan Bundy. His brother – 21 year-old Robert ‘Bobby’ Bundy was 11-5 with a 2.75 era at Frederick. In his 121 innings of High A work, he allowed 102 hits, 8 hr’s, 31 bb’s, with 100 k’s, earning his 8/5 promotion to AA Bowie. While B.Bundy struggled in his 4 starts for Bowie, will he deserve consideration for Top 100 prospect lists this Winter?”
Jim Callis: “Bobby is a prospect I’ve always liked, but he’s not a Top 100 Prospect. He was No. 15 on our Carolina League Top 20. Bobby has a good fastball and knows how to pitch, but his secondary pitches are more fringy than solid at this point.”

B. Bundy's night is over.
5ip, 8 hits, 4 er, 2 hr's, 0 bb's, 6 k's.
He threw 89 pitches, 60 for strikes.
Should be noted that both HR were from MLB roster players that hit FB well and secondaries not so much.

He sometimes really over thinks and tries to be too perfect at times. Sometimes he just needs to really trust what he brings to the table and throw the ball.
He sits with a very good deceptive 2S fastball that when he has the feel is a very tough pitch to square up at any level. He has a quality split finger change up that everyone pleads to throw more often and with snap (It is something that you may see more of as the weather get better.). He always has a cutter and curve in his pocket. He needs to gain that consistent release point on the hammer, but it is a true toss up between him and Dylan with the best hook in the system when he is on top of his game.
These last two outing had to have little to no feel at all. My understanding from his recent matchup was 45 and 15-20 mph winds. He threw almost all fastballs getting through the lineup multiple times with guys not get serious contact on him.
I see that he did live up in the zone, but give it some time. Everyone from the NE is throwing a greased ball in this crap.
I still see a 2/3/4 type of rotation pitcher because I have seen top shelf games in his pocket. It is just ironing out his delivery and release point, which looks to be on the right path after a few years.
This young man is no slouch and in my eyes is one of the top three arms in this system that could make some noise in the bullpen later in the year.

I do think Bobby Bundy could make an impact in the bullpen this year, but I'd rather leave him down all season and let him get some more good innings in as a starter. I like his chances to settle in eventually as a reliable 3/4 starter, although he could be a guy who ends up being best suited for more of a set-up role.

"Bobby Bundy was pitching yesterday for Bowie. A lot of pitches up in the zone that got hit hard. Seemed to be overthrowing a bit (four walks). Not a lot of quick resolution at-bats for Bobby; a lot of deep counts and every inning was a battle. Seemed frustrated with himself. Ended up allowing four runs in 4.2 IP with I think three K's. Bobby has a heavy fastball and good secondaries but he has to keep that fastball of his down in the zone. If he does, that pitch will get beaten into the ground. This was just my first time seeing Bobby and I certainly have an untrained eye so take my thoughts with a major grain of salt."
So there you go.

He saw his brother's profile on ESPN.com and got jealous.

Those are the 2 most disappointing things for me.
Hopefully he can turn things around.

More walks and less groundballs thus far this season.

Last two starts have been encouraging. Let's see if he can get into a groove.

Bobby has had the unfortunate luck of pitching in a few terrible weather days.
2 starts were borderline rainouts, another was a heavy wind game, and a few cold ones (early on)
I wouldn't be entirely worried about him. Just important to remember that he is not his brother. Still a good pitcher though, and gonna have his bumps.
