My wife and I are going to do an overnight in Atlantic City, NJ on June 8.    Any advice?  We're not big gamblers, but will drop a few bucks.  Really just looking to have a good time.

I hear Harrah's has an awesome seafood buffet.

If you can afford it, stay at the Borgata or, even better, the Water Club. Easily better than any other hotel in AC.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

I'm a big Borgata fan, so I second that. Might want to check the concerts that night, there could be a decent show in town.

Eat at the Old Homestead.

Yea, I just heard that it opened.

They have one in Vegas, which is great.

Where I got married, Panama City Beach, there was down there that we hung out at.

Great atmosphere, good food, awesome drinks.

It's like impossible not to like it there.

Yeah it's part of the reason we always stay at the Flamingo (have a timeshare at the Hilton next door) cause we hit Margaritaville a couple times every trip.

Resorts was a total s-hole when I stayed there, but I won a trip so I went. They had said a while back they were going to close it down and re-open it as a Boardwalk Empire styled speak easy resort, but I guess they scrapped that and scored this instead. Might be worth a weekend here soon.

Another vote for Borgata here..

Stayed at Revel a few months ago, really massive place, but seems to be empty a lot.

Have fun, Sam!

Just got back from AC this past weekend. Shitty weather. I mean, the shittiest weather you can imagine. Cold, windy and rainy for 48 straight hours. We stayed in a high rise condo a block back from the boardwalk next to Resorts. Walked through the Margaritaville -- looked nice, and during the spring and summer the Land Shark beach club looks fun.

Mostly hung around at the Showboat, but went down to the Trop and Bally's too. Never made it over to Revel because of the crap weather. Apparently strip clubs in AC are more like bikini clubs. Lame. Kind of defeats the purpose of putting a Scores there. I hate that everything is so expensive there. It's gotten to the point where cheap food and drinks in AC and Vegas are an old wives tale unless you get comped which isn't happening for a low-roller like myself. We did do a $20 buffet at Showboat which wasn't bad.

Played a lot of 3 card poker, hit the 6-card bonus a few times, ended up winning a couple of hundred. Had a good time and all that but AC is depressing. And Jersey in general is the worst. It was great to get out of there and down to OPACY yesterday for the game. Paid for my beer money.

Revel is awesome...but what a screwed up plan. When I went there, it was also empty.

They declared bankruptcy within 2 years of opening. Was talking to a dealer and he said that they opened it with the idea of making it a resort, not a casino. They wanted to sell that concept. They wanted to say, come to AC for the atmosphere..not the gambling. Morons.

They can do both. The Borgata does that with the Water Club.

AC is getting killed since PA, WV, MD and DE opened their own casinos.

It was pretty crowded when we were there despite the weather being absolutely horrible but I can see there not being enough people to go around for all 12 or however many casinos there are there.

Though it gets a lot of "meh" reviews, I really liked Trump Plaza. It didn't hurt that it's located right next to Caesar's Palace either. :)

More like Dump Plaza. :D

I haven't been there in years but the place could use an update, especially outside.

I like Showboat and Resorts, actually...places with cheap table minimums.

I thought Showboat was terrible the one time I went in January.  It smelled like smoke and ugly hookers keep trying to talk to me.

It's the Revel and Borgata for me.

Trop has a bar in the casino called Firewater that has a great beer selection.

I never saw this before. My sisters husband was the GM of that place and I got some free food/drinks there a couple times. It's pretty good, but not a place I'd go to much if I weren't getting free stuff.

Showboat is closing at the end of August. That sucks since it was my favorite casino in AC.

NYC passed legislation to open casinos within the city.

Atlantic City will be gone within 10 years. Book it.

It's still the closest place to go to get reasonable table limits.  At MD Live you're lucky to find a craps table with limits less than $25.  And, as an aside, it's just a different feeling driving down the road to gamble versus taking a weekend trip to do it.

I agree, but as these AC casinos close, and they will continue to do so, it's going to be less worth the drive up to AC. And when there's less action in AC the minimums there will continue to go up too.

Hopefully AC will evolve and stay relevant but it's definitely becoming harder for them to do.
