Thoughts on last night:

You never want to give away games, and that can be disheartening especially for a team that is only going to win so many games. The run down can't happen, need someone making the call and obviously have to be thinking lead runner. Ruiz's inexperience at 2nd likely didn't help.

I don't think the defense is going to be an issue all year.
Galvis and Franco are fine at SS and 3rd.

Mullins plus in CF, despite the arm. Excellent range. Santander good in RF.
Hays above average at all 3 positions. Stewart and Mountcastle in LF not ideal, but I think their time there will be limited overall.

Mancini fine at 1st.

Severino and Sisco... not great, but is what it is.
Ruiz at 2nd, whatever.

- The bullpen.. Scott's a beast, I feel good about Tate's ability (His walks last night disappointing. Gotta throw strikes). Plutko has been productive so far. I enjoy watching Valdez throw change after change, but don't have a ton of trust. Armstrong and Fry have to be usable. If they turn to pumpkins, Hyde has huge issues.

- Zimmermann with another productive outing, that's encouraging.

- Stewart with the walk and the double. If the O's eventually trade Mancini, I think Stewart can give the O's production at 1st / DH with Mountcastle.

Bullpen is gonna be a problem. Scott is the only guy who will still be in the majors a few years from now, IMO. You can have mediocre guys have good years, that happens all the time in the pen, so somebody will become a 2nd and 3rd somewhat reliable arm for this season. But I think that's about it. We're gonna lose a significant portion of the games that are tied or up 1 after 6 innings.

This team is experimenting with the polar opposites of Buck's philosophy around the bullpen and defense.

Wish Buck was coaching these guys up. Need an emphasis on defensive fundamentals

I'd say Tate has an outside shot. The rest are dime a dozen guys who can be had any off-season for the bare minimum.

Santander nice grab into the gap.

For a big guy, he really closes ground in a hurry.

I am not sure I have ever seen a guy get hit on the back knee cap before on a pitch behind the batter.  That has to hurt!
