A heavy RH lineup against a lefty but no Urias.

Outside of Santander at first, that's the infield defense you want to see. I wish Hyde would just stick to it and leave it alone.

I tend to agree, but it is not Hyde. The organization has decided to platoon moving Frazier, Mateo, Westtburgh and Mounty in and an out. And it is working.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I don't like it but I guess you can't argue with the results so far.

It's a bold strategy to play 2 players in RF, against shift rules. (I know it's a typo, 2B)

I woulda went ahead and sat Gunnar against the LHP and got Urias some ABs. Again though, Ramon has reverse splits so whatever.

Sitting against the lefty is understandable. More ammo for those that wanted him to play last night
Cowser out two games in a row

But this is the thing with Hicks. Hes a vet and hes made it known he wants to play and not be a bench guy. So it may come down to playing him 4 or 5 times a week or just flat out releasing him.

He better get to hitting or he is going to have more time off then he is wanting.

I don’t get the deference to a new teammate, let alone Aaron Hicks, at all.

Because hes produced here so far. No problem sitting Cowser vs lefties. Last night I understood the point more
Eh. Tomorrow the Marlins are TBD, but Jesus Luzardo (LHP) is the likely option.
But that wasn’t my point, anyway. You mentioned Hicks made it known he wants to start.
Who the hell cares what Hicks wants? I mean, does he really think there are guys on this team who prefer to ride the pine?

Hicks is 160/271/340 in his last 16 games. I'm not saying he should be let go or anything yet, but what he wants shouldn't really matter. Really, once you're DFAd in a season what you want shouldn't matter. Everyone on the roster wants to start.

Nobody cares, until it starts impacting the standings. The vast majority of posters here seem to dismiss the impact that the human side of Baseball (really, Life) can have.
In the case of Urias, you really are taking money out of his pocket. His arbitration $$ will depend solely on use/stats/projection.
Hicks case is different because he's locked into a salary that the Yankees are paying for the next couple years. His level of production doesn't change his salary and at 33, nothing is going to change that. But he still can have an ego and he (likely) certainly feels like he's earning the time.
The reason I wasn't a fan is he's been something of a self-absorbed tool in recent years in NY. Maybe that's just NY, maybe that's him. He's played his ass off here so credit to him, but Mullins is back and he's not specifically needed. You have to make decisions. One of those decisions is Cowser vs Hicks (vs Hays vs Mullins vs Santander).
The roster is 26. Make choices.
