Define his days are numbered. They likely would keep him around as a uti guy. He can play some OF. Has great speed. He might lose his starting gig but hes not gonna be DFAd

Right now Urias is hot. Frazier hot enough I guess. Mateo is the odd man out vs righties. As well he should be

If he can play an adequate OF I'd absolutely take him over McKenna in a super utility role.

Agree, he'll be the utility guy if he's not the starter. I like him in that role quite a bit. Can't hit for crap, but the defense and speed can be used off the bench. Also think he could work out fine in the OF too, he'd be real versatile.

Frazier is 0 for 7 vs Berrios.

McCann is 8 for 24 with 4 HRs vs Berrios.

But who needs stats.

Urias would be a better UTI than Mateo and is the better hitter.

Urias is the better player certainly, but he can't really play SS that well or the OF. So if Urias is the utility guy, you still need someone else who can be the backup for the spots Urias can't be.

Urias I think of more as a quality bat off the bench or even a starter. Mateo is your glove-first utility guy.
