After splitting the two games they played last week in The Bahamas, Maryland returns home for their toughest test to date against Virginia Tech as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Hokies come to College Park with a 5-2 (0-0 ACC) record, and lost their last two games to #9 Memphis and #25 Xavier in the NIT Season Tip-Off tournament. Their wins have come against Maine, Merrimack, Navy, Radford, and Saint Francis (PA).
Mike Young is in his third season as their head coach, and finished the 2020-21 season with a 15-7 (9-4) record and an overtime loss to Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
