Raptors offering 3 year deal to Nash.
Smart move by Toronto, knowing that Nash is one of the few guys in the league who will agree to play in Toronto without any additional incentive.

I doubt anyone that is anything more than a fringe starter/bench guy. What FA's do you expect the Wizards to be "in" on?
They made their big splashes already and need to watch the cap space in the long term because they want to extend Wall.

Yea this is pretty accurate. The idea is to be somewhat competitive (meaning 7 or 8 seed) the next few seasons while Beal develops. Once the bigger deals are off the books hopefully Beal has established himself as a good player, extend Wall to a max deal and bring in some bigger named FAs a few years from now.

This story says the deal is NOT contingent on DW staying.

Either way, though, LOL at Dwight Howard. He killed his good-guy reputation with all of this foolishness and now he either has to backtrack a second time or accept all of the hell Orlando fans will give him.

I wonder if it really is contingent on Williams, because if he and Howard REALLY want to play together and he made it known to the team he could see this as the Nets going in a different direction.

He's quickly become one of my more disliked players in the league.
I can't believe it was only a year or so ago that I was lusting for the Lakers to trade for him.

I was wondering why they were practically giving away Johnson.

Now the talk is Atlanta is going to go after Howard.
Now they've also dealt Marvin Williams to Utah for Devin Harris. They are clearing both salary and space for Howard.
I heard they will try to trade for Howard, offering Teague and Horford. Although Howard hasn't shown interest in Atlanta, it is his hometown and he is good friends with both Josh Smith and Anthony Morrow.
Furthermore, whether or not they are successful trading for Howard, the Hawks have cleared about $20M in cap space and now will pursue both Howard and Chris Paul (who very much wanted to be drafted by Atlanta) after this season. They have room for them both.
I was wondering why they were practically giving away Johnson.
Look, he's a good player, but he's ridiculously overpaid, so I can understand wanting to dump him.

*Of course this depends on whether or not the Nets' bench is full of useful role players or not.

So now it appears that a Howard to NJ trade is very possible and could get done soon.
You mean Brooklyn, right?

Probably 2 at the moment behind Miami. Rose has to prove he can still be Rose before I would have them back in Miami or Brooklyn territorySo if the Nets resign D-Will and get Howard to go along with Joe JOhnson, where does that put them in the Eastern Conference hierarchy? I'd put them #1 personally, I think they'd be better than the Heat and the Bulls*

And Howard has always been a bit of a headcase. Not a bad dude but a little different

I dunno, I think I'd take DWill and Howard over James and Wade and I think Johnson and Bosh are about equal. It's becoming more and more of a PG league and the Heat still lack an elite PG. Plus Gerald Wallace is better than whoever the 4th best player on Miami is.
