I am going to the game on Saturday. I miss Alcantara. Too bad the Orioles don't. He has not been great this year, but coming off the break he will be rested and looking to turn around a tough season.

He may be looking for that, but he isn’t going to find it at Camden Yards. Across the board his numbers aren’t where they were last year, and last years under the hood numbers suggested a fall back, though not one this drastic. I’d bet on this just being more of a lost year for Alcantara than a year of two halves for him.
I hope you are right. Although I don't care how he does, once he leaves Baltimore this weekend.

Well, let's hope the offensive fireworks continue after the break. If they do, it won't matter much who's on the mound. Conversely, when they're slumping at the plate, it also doesn't matter much who's pitching either. So, we shall see. Alcantara probably just had a career year in 2022 and now he's back to where he probably should be statistically. I'm not worried about him.

I would care a lot if the Marlins decide to trade him and he ends up here! Would be a really interesting target. Buy low perhaps?

He isn’t going to help this year. You want to trade for Dean Kremer? The pitch clock has messed him up. Maybe a regrouping in the off-season can help him, but he’d be the wrong target for this stretch run. As an off-season target, would love it, though I doubt he’s a true ace moving forward, he was lucky in 2022.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Marlins are in prime playoff position. Why would they sell?
That, too.
They are the perfect trade partner in the off-season though. They've got more pitching than they need, particularly next season. I'd love to go after a Braxton Garrett, Sand Man or Luzardo type in the off-season. Can't imagine they'd deal Eury. They've got pitchers knocking on the door in AAA too, and just drafted that stud Meyer, granted a HS arm and at least a couple years away.

They wont. We do need to match up with them this offseason.

The Marlins are not likely to trade him this season. They are right in the midst of a playoff run too. If I were Elias, I would check in after the season with the Marlins.

I'd wait until the end of the season to see if he's turned it around before even thinking about a trade. Like I said, last year may have been an aberration and what he's doing this year is the norm going forward. In that case, I'd pass.

The price would change. You know he has Cy Young in him, because he did that. It would be about if the org/scouts/pldev people see something they can work with. Or if an off-season of preparing and working through the mental issues with the new rules would help him. He has made quite a few comments throughout the season about that.

Time to see if the second half will remove the City Connect curse

Are we 1-6 in those things?

He was pretty good in 21 too. The W-L record was not good, but his numbers were solid.

He's always been good up until his rocky first half this season. Career ERA under 3 1/2 even before last years Cy Young run.

I didn't say he was horrible. I just don't know if his season last year wasn't his career year. Maybe this year is who he's going to be in the future. Maybe not. But if he doesn't turn it around, I would never give up a quality prospect for him. Now watch him go out tomorrow night and throw a no-hitter. (LOL)
