Starting tomorrow the O's have 7 games vs. the Mariners and Royals at home. Seattle has been playing well, KC continues to struggle.5 wins and two series victories would be good.6 wins would be excellent.

With the upcoming schedule, it's almost a must that they win 5 of these games if they want to make the playoffs.

Fortunately we miss Felix in the Seattle series. We'll face Vargas, Beaven and Millwood, so we have a real shot to score some runs and win some games.

I agree, we need to win 5 or 6 of these, and we should have a chance to do so.

Every time I thought we would win 5 of 6, or something like that, we do good to split. I have no expectations for these two series.

The series' after these 2 are the real important ones because we'll be playing teams we're competing against for the playoffs: BOS, DET, KC, TOR, CHI, NY, TB, OAK.

I hear ya. When we had the "stretch of doom" in May, we fared very well, much better than we thought. It works both ways, that's why the games are played on the field.

Dont' sleep on Seattle..They've been a different team since the burden of Ichiro has been lifted. Blake Beavan has won 4 straight, Vargas has been incredible...This series scares the hell out of me.

Playing at OPACY nullifies a lot of Seattle's strengths. I'm predicting a sweep for the Birds.

We seem to play up to our competition but also seem to play down to it as well. Really would not surprised if they lost four of six, after doing the inverse on the road against Yankees/Rays. Also, I find it very odd how we are playing better on the road than at home, any explanation for that or just one of those "flukey" thing?

We've been at home when we get on cold streaks, and on the road when we've been on hot streaks.

Also, we had a heavy road schedule when we opened the season, which was when the team was playing the best.

I don't think it's any indication that the team actually performs better on the road vs. home, or that they aren't designed to play well in Camden Yards. Just a flukey thing with where we've bee in the schedule when we get hot or cold.

So not to sound-like a broken record but I go into every three-game series with the mindset of winning of 2 of 3. Thus, I'm thinking of 2 of 3 and 3 of 4. I'll gladly take 5 out of 7. I agree with Chris, six would be icing on the cake. Honestly, I don't think I would be too disappointed with 4 out 7, they just played two great series against the Yanks/the Rays on the road.

It's not a must at all. Sorry, this isn't football.

You have to beat the teams you are supposed to beat.

I said almost a must btw...not saying do or die but you screw up this stretch, you put yourself in a bad position.

Maybe not a must win but I think it is real important to get on a roll here against KC and the Mariners. A 5-2 week would give us a good boost as the schedule toughens. It also buys us time until hammel returns and the roster expands.

As of now, looks like Thursday's game will be Wei-Yin Chen (on his tshirt day) versus Jeremy Guthrie.
