I thought we had a 'Mats/80s thread here but I didn't see it.

Anyway, "Let it Be" by the Replacements is the best album of the 80s and it is celebrating its 30th birthday this month.  If you haven't checked this album/band out, do yourself a favor and load it up on Spotify or whatever program you use -- you won't regret it.

As for my 10 favorite albums of the 80s, the list goes a bit something like:

1)  "Let it Be" - The Replacements

2) "Murmur" - REM

3) "Document" - REM

4) "Graceland" - Paul Simon

5) "The Joshua Tree" - U2

6) "Daydream Nation" - Sonic Youth

7) "Licensed to Ill" - Beastie Boys

8) "The Unforgettable Fire" - U2

9) "Pleased to Meet Me" - The Replacements

10) "Remain in Light" - Talking Heads

Not one of Gene Hackman's finer roles.

We can give him a pass since he did give us "The French Connection" and "The Conversation"

"Reckoning" is still my favorite REM record, and I'd go "Tim" just a tad over "Let it Be" and "Pleased to Meet Me" Replacements wise.

Pedro: Are you a Pavement fan at all? I'm sure we've discussed this, but can't recall.

Love Pavement.  "Slanted and Enchanted" and "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" are both in my top 10 of the 90s list.  Never got to see them live, unfortunately.

I thought so..Yea, they're probably 3rd to me behind REM and the 'Mats.

Last time I saw Pavement was in 1999, and the White Stripes opened..we were like "Who are these two goofy looking fucks"?

Who knew!
