The owners would have to give up 1 game each. That's what I meant.
Ah. Gotcha.

Would anyone on planet Earth other than the owners care if they reduced the pre-season to two games? I'm not even talking about increasing the regular season -- but give each franchise one home and one away pre-season game.
I don't understand why they don't just go to 18 reg season games and 2 preseason games. They will be playing the exact same amount of games, and these days where teams use depth more and more the starters don't play the whole game anyway, so they'd barely be taking on any extra time.

Really, you don't get their opposition to more wear and tear?
It's well known that the starters don't go 100% during the pre-season. They don't play through injuries. And if they are any where near winded they come out.
Two more regular season games would be hell on football players bodies. I think it's crazy of fans to ask for 18 games, personally.

Like I said. It's not really more wear and tear. The number of injuries that pile up in practice and preseason says that they play plenty hard enough. With the way they rotate players these days (5th string WR get plenty of snaps, 4th string RBs get snaps) it wouldn't really be THAT much more beyond what they play in those other 2 preseason games (especially since they play a majority of that 3rd game usually).
It's just an overused narrative to say that it would be so tough on their bodies, the ACTUAL toll isn't much more than they are already doing, and they are being paid MILLIONS of dollars to work less than 1/2 a year...they can suck it up.

No chance they go to 18 games. With the concussion problems and lawsuits, the players won't go for it, and the league won't either. I know the NFL is always looking for more dollars but 18 games would actually do more to hurt the game than help it.

They are already playing 20. There's no difference playing 20 games, and playing 20 games.

There's clearly a difference for the starters.

It's ridiculous to think otherwise. Clearly a difference.
Even wear and tear from the perspective of you don't play a full game so practice is easier. Plus there are crazy practice restraints during camp too.
Ask Suggs how he feels after Preseason game 2 and game 3 and how he feels after Week 1 and Week 2. I can't imagine they feel the same.

Noticed Kamar Aiken, not Deonte Thompson was on the first team kick return unit. Does this mean Aiken has the edge over Thompson in that battle for the last WR spot?

I think it's between Aiken and Butler at this point for the last spot.
