@Britt_Ghiroli: Os have scored 31 runs over their last 4 games, but are 1-3 over that stretch.
I actually forgot about the 3 run dinger by Jones in the 9th against KC that gave us 6 in that game.

8 runs last night and 7 tonight. Two losses.
We play to the scoreboard/opponent. Cant sync up the pitching, fielding, and offense.
You're right. Seems we can never get all facets of the game firing at once. Having the bats for back to back games MIGHT be big - let's hope they continue from here.
In other news, seemed like a good start from Chen, let down by some defensive miscues. I was listening in the car and they kept reiterating the "bad hops" to Flaherty for those two missed balls. When I saw the replays I wasn't so sure. Chen deserved more. On to the next one.

The bootom line is this.
You know a good team when you see one. I mean over an extended stretch. Anyone can have a good week or two weeks. The only time we were legitimately a good team was the last 2 months or so of the '12 season. If Markakis doesn't go down, we might have won the WS. We were good enough over those last 2 months to do that.
We weren't good enough last year, and that was clear by the middle of August. We aren't good enough now either.
Sure, we have enough core pieces to turn things around. We'll need our luck to change as far as injuries go, and then we still will have to find at least 3-4 upgrades if we want to be a legit contender. Have to get some upgrade at 2b. Have to figure out a better LF/DH solution and we will need at least one more reliable BP arm at the back of the pen. I think we can get by with the rotation. It does no good to go get another Feldman at this point. Now, Jeff Smardja(spelling) is a different story, but that's gonna be a big prospect investment.
The thing is this. Once DD went all in this offseason by not trading Wieters, Hardy, or Davis and signing Cruz and Jimenez he has to follow that up in the regular season by attacking the trade market.

Schoop is getting worse offensively. He's about to drop below .600 OPS.
I think Schoop is fine at 2B. He will improve. Flaherty needs to go. He brings nothing to the table. You can't have all stars or 800+ ops guys at each position. But we definitely do need to make some upgrades. Sucks that Wieters went down when he did. Need the pitching to remove head from ass too.

He's a rookie. So you either play him everyday and let him work through his issues or send him down to Norfolk so he can do that.
Three years now we've seen Flaherty do nothing. Sure he's put together about two weeks of good baseball over those three years. So what? How many chances are we going to give this guy?
Dan should be on the horn with other teams finding a LF, C and maybe a 2B right now but until we find a better option just go with Schoop.
