In this week's AL East look, I hit upon the tight race in the East, a note on each team and look at a key role player for each team.

It's pretty mediocre right now.

Only Tor has a plus run differential and that's only +5.

Injuries are killing the division.

I'd call Cruz a role player. You don't get a star for 1 year and 8 million. Wei-Yin Chen is also a role player doing a good job. He was at best the #3 pitcher on the squad going into the year.

 

The AL East is tough. We're one game under .500 against other divisions despite having a trillion injuries. The AL Central has been awfully healthy so far.
