It's worse than getting blown out.

Normally I'd agree, but not in this case.  This game just didn't mean much for MD, they are not going to the tourney regardless.  I'm just happy to see some improvement.  Definitely a better team with Seth, and they slowly but surely are getting better.  Great for me to see.

If I squint really hard, with continued improvement from this year's sophomores and the freshmen class coming in, I can almost see this team competing for a tourney berth next year.  Which is a vast improvement from a month ago.

Yeah I agree, I think Maryland was playing with house money so to speak. Barring a miracle run, they have little chance of making the Tourney without winning the ACCT run (and that's a miracle run in itself). So they win this game, it's great, end the rivalry on a high note. They lose this game, there's not much long term impact. It was nice to see them play competitively. And I'm not saying it was a moral victory, it wasn't. They lost, just would rather see this than it being over 12 minutes into the game.

Ahhhhhh! Can't believe that shot didn't fall. Obviously they drew the play up for Wells, but Duke defended him really well after the inbounds. Mitchell got a decent look, can't believe it rolled the other way.

The season rolls on... They should be able to easily handle Wake on Tuesday, and they'll get 6 days to prepare for Syracuse. The only thing I'm looking forward to about that Syracuse game is being in attendance for a sold-out game. It certainly helps that 4 of their last 5 are at home.

Cuse game should be a lot of fun. Odds are they won't win, but not out of the realm of possibilities given last night's result fr them and it's very difficult going undefeated the whole year.

This team has played harder and better the past few games. They aren't a good team, but they're playing better at least. So yeah, I think the Syracuse game should be a good one, but I don't see the Terps winning that one.

That's what I've been telling myself. I don't think they'll get blown out, and they're at home so there's a much better chance there than at the Carrier Dome. Nevertheless, it'll be a fun atmosphere. I'll be getting there nice and early and grabbing my third row seats at mid-court.

MD can beat Cuse. NC St had Cuse beat in the carrier dome last night and choked it away.

They can struggle to score...but MD needs to shoot well.

Seth Davis just called Maryland the "trap game" in Syracuse's remaining schedule. We'll see.

I do think Syracuse at a rocking Comcast is the easier game than Duke at Cameron. I still don't think we win though. I just can't see some of these guys putting up another strong game in back-to-back outings. Inconsistent.

I was wondering what the hell happened there.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I assumed that Allen was touching out of bounds or that there was a foul. But it was weird nonetheless. Not surprised they got the call wrong. Officiating was pretty poor in the game (with the exception of the shot clock violation, that was handled well).

Yup. Was texting with Rob during the game and said the same thing. All the foul calls killed the flow of the game. Very sloppy game and pretty tough to watch at points during the game. Also thought foul calls were very inconsistent. If you're going to call it close, you need to call it that way the entire 40 minutes, not pick and choose when you do so.

ACC acknowledges held ball error in Terps-Duke game

In a statement provided Sunday night, ACC senior associate commissioner of men’s basketball operations Karl Hicks acknowledged that an “administrative error” was made concerning a series of held balls in the Maryland-Duke game on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

“A miscommunication occurred between the officials and the table crew during last night’s Maryland and Duke game,” Hicks said. “The administrative error happened in the second half at the 16:58 mark when a jump ball was not registered, which resulted in Duke receiving consecutive possessions.”

When I first saw that I thought I read "Karl Hess," not Karl Hicks.
