Posnanski is ranking the 100 best players ever on his blog which you should be reading anyway.

Duh, just take the top 100 players in terms of WAR and you're done.

Duh, just take the top 100 players in terms of WAR and you're done.

 

Nah, taking one view of ranking players and stubbornly sticking to it no matter what can be left to the "old school" that does it so well. It's great that there are a plethora of writers around willing to put an effort into actually thinking through a process like this.
