Towns is a potential top 5 player and they got some other good young talent including Wiggins and Lavine. Another high pick too. Definitely an appealing job.
And really, how good is the West going to be going forward?
OKC is about to be done. SA is going to lose the old guys soon enough. Clippers? Nothing.

If I were betting futures for 3-5 years ahead, Minnesota would be one of my top teams. Next season is the year they need to start putting it all together though. I thought we'd see more signs this year, but the unfortunate passing of Flip Saunders could have been a setback. Still, the individual talent is obviously there.
They need to make the right move with this coaching hire, but at least it sounds like they will have a lot to choose from. Playoffs next season is probably asking too much, but they should make a legitimate push for it.

They could easily make the playoffs next year. They have a great cheap core with cap space. Make a few good signings, bring in a solid coach and they could do it. The west isn't as good as it once was.
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Don't like the idea of anyone taking on both roles.

Wow..serious contract.
Don't like the idea of anyone taking on both roles.
Agreed. But if that's the only way to get him, maybe it's worth it. Hard to say, but I probably would have looked elsewhere.
