You might like Belgian beers. I had some really great beers when I went there a few years ago. Some that I liked that I know you can find in the States without much trouble are Chimay, Leffe and Duvel. One of the best beers I've had in my life is the Westvleteren 12, but you'll have to go to Belgium for that one.

I recommend hefeweizens (wheat beers) and porters, if you like crisp and roast. For an easy-to-find American hefeweizen, try Troegs Dreamweaver. For a true German hefeweizen, I highly recommend Ayinger Brau-Weisse (or any of the other Ayinger offshoots, like the Ur-Weisse). For porters, there are a bunch of good ones. Anchor porter, Smuttynose Robust Porter, Flying Dog Gonzo, and Sam Smith Taddy Porter. Best of luck. It just takes one really good find to keep you coming back for more...

Agree 100% on wheat beers. Try a Blue Moon with a slice of orange in it. Very mild, very good.

Chris with some good recommendations.
Flying Dog makes some really good intro beers, would recommend trying them if you want a few ones to potentially move you into the "craft" market.

Goose Island IPA (although the quality has severly gone down since Bud bought them)
I would try those in addition to the suggestions already listed. If you find any of these to your liking, it will help for further suggestions.
BTW, ol' McNutty has a handful of Westy 12s that are about 3 years old.

Great suggestions for the wheat bears. As far as the porters go it might be a good idea to skip the Gonzo, that's an imperial porter and a pretty strong one at 9% not exactly easy drinking for a non beer drinker. I would recommend Evo's Lucky 7 porter, much smoother and still a beer brewed in Maryland.
