Oh man, was waiting for your post(s) tonight... and this is all we get? Where's the GPL? (Gut punch loss)... what a let down.

Dammit! I signed on late just to see Nickle's post as well..

Very disappointing.

Bad loss for sure, but this one's on Hunter and Matusz anyway, not Strop (though clearly he didn't get the job done)

Are we really suggesting that Buck got the thumb and just decided to take the rest of the night off and let Russell take the reigns? Shame on Showalter anyway if that's the case...but I find it highly doubtful.

I'm with you, Buck was definitely calling the shots from the hallway..

Horrible, horrible loss.

Absolutely one of the worst bullpen managements I have seen out of the Orioles in recent years.

Why would you take O'Day out after 8 pitches in a tied game? I get the matchup thing with Matusz but it was a tied game they weren't protecting a lead and O'Day is one of the best relievers in the game today.

Why bring Matusz out a 2nd time?? Oh, because there was nobody else? This comes back to pulling O'Day.

The worst part, the absolute worst part though, is bringing in Strop when Johnson is rested.

God, what a horrible game by Buck or whoever was managing the bullpen tonight.

Oh well, bounce back and get em' tomorrow with Gonzalez on the mound.

Wait, so Hunter gave up a 2 run HR to Kowasaki in the 7th. Thta pretty much erases all the good he had done up to that point. Every single person on BSL could have pitched to Kowasaski and not given up a HR.

It certainly doesn't come close to erasing anything he's done to this point... but be hung a cutter that even Kawasaki could pull. That was horrible. Inexcusable to give up a game tying home run to a guy like that.

I haven't been that pissed about an O's loss in quite a while.

The Red Sox game last week with Casilla base-running blunder? The Angels game before that where they blew the lead? Those two are just off-the-top-of-my-head and happened in the past 10 days.

Yes, yes, but you see... the Duff Man admitted to some boozing on a Friday night and taking in the game... so it's all in the total package.

Seriously though, it was a bad loss, and there have been plenty this year. The Angels one was probably worse for me, but the Blue Jays loss a couple Sunday's ago was the worst of the season, IMO. Either way, what's great about this team, and one of the things I love the most about this team, is they don't carry that over to the next day.

Fair enough then...

Luckily, I missed the Blue Jays meltdown as I was on vacation at the time. I don't think the Casilla base running blunder was the worst loss of the year per se, but it was the one I was the most mad at. That's just fundamentals. They aren't winning all the close games like they did last year, I guess that's to be expected.
