Does anyone else remember those books? I think I had all of them - I remember getting them from when I was 7 or 8 until I was 9 or 10, and waiting for each new one to arrive. I don't recall, though, knowing that it was supposed to be a 20-book set, but it did seem to me at the time like something happened and there were supposed to be more of them. These were really enjoyable books and probably did much to cement my love of the game; the "Why Not?" team didn't hurt, either. Before 'roiders rewrote so many records, I probably had that stat card pretty much memorized. I don't know where my set is now - so much stuff from growing up is now in scattered boxes at my parents', and I have no idea what any items' conditions are. A little blurb about them - hard to find much.

Here's the volume with Brooks on the cover:

He also signed one of the books - I believe it was The Fielders, which had Ozzie Smith on the cover. It started out with Brooks's exploits in the '70 World Series.

Man, I really hope I find them again sometime. Great memories.
