Rumored candidates are Doc Rivers, and Gregg Popovich.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Mike D'Antoni? If they want a younger guy Tom Thibodeau (sp?) would be a good candidate. No-nonsense, defense oriented guy.

Jerry Colangelo must be the only person in America, who thinks Coach K might be able to comeback.
One statement I will disagree about though:
I think his legacy with USA basketball is more than a footnote on his obituary, but I think Duke will be much more relevant."The reality is, his persona is as much personified with USA Basketball as it is with Duke," Colangelo said. "That's what happened over these last seven, eight years, and he's very aware of that, and his heart may say one thing and other factors may pull against that. But what I've tried to do is just delay having any specific conversation until his season is over.

I agree. Colangelo's quote is crazy talk. K deserves credit for getting the pros to buy into a team concept, and coming home with multiple Golds; but he'll never be identified more for that work than with Duke.

He absolutely should. Continues to build his legacy as one of the best coaches ever in any sport. Under his leadership, they should easily win again.

It is there's to lose. Sure he could build his legacy, but he's already going down as one of the top coaches ever. Still, it be great for him to comeback.

Must say I'm surprised he's returning.

ESPN: Team USA coaching staff set
http://espn.go.com/o...-team-usa-staff
Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams are joining the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team, adding two respected defensive coaches to Mike Krzyzewski's staff.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim returns to round out the staff for the next three years, USA Basketball announced Monday.
Thibodeau, whose Chicago Bulls are one of the NBA's toughest defensive teams, and the New Orleans Pelicans' Williams will replace Mike D'Antoni and Nate McMillan.

I wonder if Tibs takes over for K after the next Olympics?

I wonder if Tibs takes over for K after the next Olympics?
Maybe, but can he teach his defense effectively in a short period of time? And does he really want to be showing non Bulls players and coaches everything about his defensive scheme and coaching style?

It's probably an audition of sorts. I wouldn't be surprised if they got another Coach K type if they could, maybe someone retired who wouldn't be tied down to another job.

Fox Sports: LeBron's days with Team USA over?
I'm confused after reading that article. Is the assumption that Lebron would say no, or that they wouldn't ask/want him? Can't imagine it's the latter but it wasn't clarified, was it?

I think it's more that veteran players, specifically LeBron don't want to make the kind of commitment to USA Basketball.
