At a May 2 meeting, the NCAA Board of Directors will vote on moving up the start of practice by two to three weeks (would be Sept. 27 or Oct. 4 this season). And the following week in Indianapolis, the men's basketball rules committee will vote on moving the shot clock from 35 to 30 seconds.

After taking an informal poll of 37 Division I coaches Monday morning, the consensus among that community seems to be "yes" for both.

I'm for both.

Moving the shot clock up will help the pace of the college game so much. I've been calling for them to do this for years. Really hope it happens.

Yeah, the shot clock being reduced will help a lot. 35 seconds is brutal when there are teams that are intent on using a high portion of it on just about every possession.

Boy Bobby Knight has got to be thinking how much this will destroy the game!

All for it though. Absolutely.

Haha, true. But it's gotta happen. I mean, it's the D-League for the NBA anyway, so they need to get there. I still think 30 is too damn long, but it's a good step for the time being. They need to get rid of the zone D too. I'm tired of this Syracuse crap.
