Jones and Machado both very accountable. Jones had no excuses for the dropped ball while Machado admitted he was over-aggressive at 1B.
BTW, I disagree with the Machado part. He was over-aggressive, but he was too late being over-aggressive. If he had run to 2B as soon as the SS threw it to 3B, he would've been at 2nd base with 2 outs.

I'd like to know what the base coaches had to do with any of that, if they did. But regardless, as DJ I think said earlier, that's fairly fundamental, and are taught that at the very young stage of learning the game.

Could be right there. That further solidifies my argument that his isn't a laziness problem.
I think it still could be. Sometimes the laziest people put more effort into avoiding looking lazy than they would if they actually weren't lazy.
I know. We can smell our own.

He was completely unaggressive. Just neutral baserunning should have put him on second. He started overthinking the situation and got caught.

As a former 1B coach and having a play similar to this come up I can tell you that there isn't much a 1b coach can do there. It has to be instincts and hustle on the runners part that once he sees a guy in the rundown and preferably 2b chasing with the ball towards 3rd to get on his horse and get to 2b. If you see that the runner in front of you (Casilla) is close to being tagged then play it safe and stay at 1b. If the guy is firmly in the middle of the rundown and you can see that it'll take a few more throws or a decent amount of time for the opposition to tag the runner out then get on your horse and get to 2b. If the 1st base coach has to relay to Manny to go it's probably already too late.
It's kind of like a 1b coach on a pickoff throw from the pitcher. If the runner is leaning and doesn't react to the pitcher making the pickoff attempt it's probably too late even if the 1b coach sees it and reacts with a "back" call to his runner.
