What is your lineup tomorrow vs. Dempster? (Assuming Reimold is available.)
Posted 09 April 2013 - 11:09 AM
McLouth
Machado
Markakis
Jones
Davis
Wieters
Hardy
Reimold
Flaherty
I'd shake things up with the order a tiny bit, personally, but this is what I expect we'll see. If it was my decision, I'd move Markakis to leadoff, Reimold up to two, and McLouth and Machado down to 7 & 8. Rest of the order the same, with the middle guys sliding up to start at the #3 hole instead of the #4.

I agree on both accounts. That looks like what we will see, and I would also move Markakis and Reimold up, with Nate and Machado moving down.

I also agree with Mackus' proposed line-up, but think it'll be what he outlined too, unfortunately. Either way, Reimold and Flaherty need to hit tomorrow.

I'm wondering how long Buck is going to stay with Machado at #2 if he doesn't start to improve. I've always been a big advocate of Manny's because of the glove, but I must admit, I'm getting a little frustrated. I realize were only seven games into the season.
I liked Markakis leading off last year. Don't mind McLouth so much in that role, but Markakis would be my choice.

I don't think Manny will be moved out of the #2 hole unless there are players at the bottom of the order that start hitting so well, and for a substantial period of time, that they simply have to be moved up. I don't think Manny will get moved down for poor performance. Obviously this slump he's in now won't continue, he OPS'd about 740 last year (though with a slightly sub-300 OBP) so a bit below that would probably be the worst case for Manny this year. Unless someone from the bottom (Reimold is the obvious contender here and Roberts would've been as well had he stayed healthy) hits really well and forces the issue, I don't think we'll see a change.
Buck's already shown that he doesn't care about having a decent OBP as a prerequisite for batting high in the order. That's a strange stance, at best, but it's obviously what he thinks.

JJ Hardy hit .236/.281/.380 last year in the 2 spot. I don't think Buck really cares about stats. If he thinks he should hit 2 he is going to hit 2 regardless of struggles.

Also, is it 7:10 yet? I hate freakin' off days. Especially afer a day game. It feels like the past 2 days have been a whole off-season.

Raining lightly in Boston.
Let's give Jake some runs to work with.

I think tonight is a good chance to get some runs on the board with Dempster. If the O's can work deep into counts against him, I expect a lot of runs. Real crucial for Jake to get going early. Is it just me or does he seem to think way too much on the mound?

Not just you about Jake. Lots of Jake talk the last few days. Number of people sharing similar thoughts.
Re: Dempster... 8 k's, and 4 walks in the last start. Could be a lot of deep counts.
