This is awesome, but I'm super pissed Miller doesn't know the contract details already.

Any guesses? 4/25 with an option year?

This is why you don't doubt Ozzie. Great move.

Baltimore Ravens ‏@Ravens 3m

The #Ravens have agreed in principle to a five-year deal with Elvis Dumervil.

Sweet action.

So on defense, we've lost:
Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Danelle Ellerbe
Paul Kruger
Bernard Pollard

We've added:
Chris Canty
Elvis Dumervill
Marcus Spears

Hopefully we can add Huff and find a quality LB prospect in the draft. There's a decent change our D is better next season. It starts up front, and our D-Line should be very, very good.

If we can add Huff, VERY good offseason. I'm pumped. Huff wouldn't count against comp picks either, as with all 3 FA signs so far.

My friend just said "Hope this works better than the last post-Super Bowl Elvis."

So we've got Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, and whoever we get in the draft with Ngata, Canty, Spears, Art Jones, and McPhee on the line. Talk about an impressive collection we can have on the front 7. A healthy Suggs and Dumervil should create much more pressure than we could have ever imagined this past season.

With Webb coming back too. I'm definitely willing to bet our D us better next year.

Yep. I have a feeling J Smith is about to turn it on too, he impressed for the most part down the stretch. Just gotta hope we stay healthy.

Biggest need other than LB'er right now is still a replacement for Q. A nice, ball possession, big receiver that can go over the middle.

I was just saying on twitter that a secondary with Webb, Smith on the outside & Graham in the nickel is very strong. Will also help Smith to have a more orthodox safety behind him IMO.

Can target MLB, S in draft, and work on depth elsewhere as well.

Just landed in Charlotte waiting for connection and saw Dumervil w Ravens. Balt recruited him HARD, showed him the love.

God, I love being a Ravens fan.

Wonder if this increases the chances of Upshaw moving inside?

You retool. We have to remember how mediocre, and at times, bad the defense was for much of the year. Now they turned it up later in the season and were great in the redzone in the playoffs which was key but the pure numbers weren't pretty. We gave up over 400 yards of total offense in every playoff game except the Denver game(398yards).

Despite losing emotional leaders in Ray, Reed, and Pollard and have yet to find their replacements I do think we are arguably building a better defense. For the good things each of those guys brought to the table they also had flaws and liabilities. We'll undoubtedly be getting younger and faster in replacing those guys. Our defense was noticably slow last year.

It'll be interesting to see how Ozzie fills in the rest of the holes on defense at ILB and S. Have to think he goes the veteran route at one of the safety positions and possibly one of the ILB positions as well.

5 years $35 million

5/$35M, $8.5M Bonus (over the 5 years) with a roughly $2.5M cap hit in 2013.

Leaves roughly $5M under the cap right now for 2013.

I don't think the Ravens need to go veteran at S or ILB... leadership should be fine. Suggs, Ngata and Webb frankly are all vets who can be good leaders. I think this is Suggs defense now.
