Bidding war for Kruger? He is a solid player but he is going to get overpaid.

http://www.rotoworld...181/paul-kruger

The Sun article Rotoworld cited had a curious ending.

Cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers as they picked up $5.1 million against the salary cap, five-time Pro Bowl outside linebacker James Harrison is interested in joining the Ravens, according to his agent.

It's unclear if the Ravens, who once briefly employed Harrison before he joined the Steelers, would have mutual interest because of Harrison's age. The former NFL Defensive Player of the Year dipped to six sacks last season and turns 35 in two months.

"Baltimore would be a great fit for James," agent Bill Parise said. "They're a contender and a class organization, so James would definitely be interested. I would think they would have a need with the market for Kruger."

As it states, this doesn't mean the interest is mutual. And even if it was, I'm sure some team will save the Ravens from a big mistake by offering Harrison more money.

PFF had a tweet the other day talking about how Harrison is still a productive player..even more so vs the run than getting to the QB. I'm not saying the Ravens should sign him, just saying that if you could get him on a 1 year deal and it not take up too much of the cap space, that it could be a good deal for whoever signs him.

If it's 1-year, and very cheap, I'd maybe take a chance. But he has missed parts of the past two seasons and at 35 that does not figure to improve. And despite that, I think some team will overpay him....and I have every confidence it won't be the Ravens.

EDIT: I will add that with Kruger all but gone and Upshaw potentially moving inside, the Ravens will have to do some bargain-hunting for an OLB.

It seems like Harrison's agent thinks a lot of teams will be "good fits" for his client.

“Baltimore would be a great fit for James,” Parise told the Baltimore Sun.

“The Saints would be a great fit,” Parise separately told the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The Browns would be a “great fit,” Parise separately told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Let’s save Bill some effort. Anyone willing to pay Harrison the $6.57 million the Steelers wouldn’t is a “great fit.”

Failing that, any team that runs a 3-4 defense would be a “great fit.”

Failing that, any team that runs a 4-3 defense would be a “great fit.”

Drew: Baltimore better get ready to start cheering for #JamesHarrison. I don't like it, honestly, but I don't run the team.

@WNST
Drew: The one positive about #JamesHarrison? He's very bitter towards the #Steelers...and #Ravens play them twice, of course.

Joey Porter would have been harder for me to cheer for, but not many others are in that league. He is a sociopath

Drew: A source just reminded me...#JamesHarrison has to fit in with #Ravens and their cap/budget. Has to play for what they offer.

Maybe it was just conjecture?

Which means it's a lock Harrison doesn't sign.

Just doesn't seem like the right fit. We need help up the middle of the defense, not on the outside. Canty was a start. I think we'll have to sign a MLB as well since we lost Ellerbe. Safety at this moment, whether its Reed or not, is also more of a priority than OLB.

I think Harrison would be a fall back option for a lot of teams. I can't see anyone really making a move on him now.

PFF talked about how Harrison was still good vs the run...effective in pass rushing situation but not as effective as the past.

Still, Ravens want to get younger and faster...don't see how this fits, at least early on in the process.

Yup, Ravens generally need to get younger on defense. I agree he could be a fallback option at some point. Not a priority on the first day of FA. Makes no sense.

I wonder if some of these radio guys put stuff out there just to create a stir or buzz. They obviously can get away with far more speculation than a guy at the Sun.

It's completely impossible to take anything he says seriously after looking at that picture.

Sign him to a value deal and move him inside?
