Not going to happen for us this year.

Encouraging game in a lot of ways, but needed to win with a 4 point lead late. Len came up exceptionally small in the final minutes.

Well, FSU has single-handedly put a pretty big dent in our tourney hopes.

Len and Faust can share goat duties. Len misses an easy alley-oop, Faust goes 0-3 from the line down the stretch, including the front end of a one-and-one. Though Faust did play pretty well other than that.

And like I mentioned, FSU totally schooled us every time coming out of time-outs tonight.

This loss sucks.

That was a game MD should have, and needed to win. Some credit to FSU, but I'm frustrated. I think I'll sleep on my thoughts, before posting irrationally.

Maybe one day I'll have the discipline to be able to do that. Probably not, but maybe. ;)

One big take away, the offense seemed better without forcing minutes for Pe'Shon.

Bottom line, this team needs to win 2 games they're not supposed to down the stretch. One of those MUST be Duke at this juncture, IMO.

That's not un-doable, IMO... IF, and that's a big IF, they can build on tonight (get over the loss part of it) and take more steps forward.

My gut says we'll come up short come tourney time though. Just too young and make too many mistakes down the stretch. Not sure if that piece of it will be corrected in time.

Probably have to get at least to the ACC semi-finals too. I don't see it happening. At least they should have a decent shot at the Seth Greenberg Invitational (a.k.a. NIT). Some sort of postseason experience should be good for a team that will return a lot of young players.

Great game from Wells. He had some of that missing mid-range game tonight that was discussed in the other thread. Also didn't seem to miss Howard at all. But they just don't have a consistent guy they can count on every game (cough cough Alex Len cough).

I still think 11-7 gets them in relatively comfortably at this point. Of course, that means going 8-2 down the stretch, which isn't very likely. 10-8 probably puts them right on the bubble, and they'd need to do a little work in the tourney.

Oy - just so many frustrating things about that game. So. Many. Things. Maybe the most frustrating is that offensively they actually performed pretty darn well with nothing from Len. Faust was really good other than his choke-job at the line at the end. Wells was obviously great. Just have to find a way to win that game. And like BoB mentioned, how on earth is Snaer that wide open at the end of the game?

You gotta have a PG to win in the ACC.

Just don't get Len and his lack of shots.

He's not that good. He's just not. Still need to get him the ball more though, regardless... which is made more difficult by not having a PG.

Yeah, he'll get eaten alive in the NBA if he leaves after this season.

Basically every game is a must win at this point, which is why I hate that term to begin with. They need as many wins as they can get just to make the tourney.

Zack, myself, and few others were discussing on Twitter last night whether he leaves for the NBA and if that would be a good decision? My answer is if he's a lottery pick, I don't see how he doesn't. It's a two-way street and your stock even without an injury could down. The more there is on you, the more exposed you are. My other point was it's not like Maryland is going to be a Final Four team next year (realistically speaking), so I'm not sure why you would stay for the team aspect. Thoughts?

There is zero doubt that if Len remains a lottery pick by draft time, that he'll go... as he should. I don't think he'd come back to MD even if they were a Final 4 team next year. I just don't think he'll have a good career in the League.

A lot of random thoughts on another heartbreaking loss ...

Wells nearly won the game by himself, but he made a bad mistake leaving Snaer open for the winner at the end. His six turnovers didn't help either.

Len has an enormous amount of potential ... but he's not fulfilling that potential. He HAS to make that dunk/layup at the end, and he has to get better at GRABBING rebounds, as opposed to jumping up and flicking the ball out to someone else. Argh.

Faust has got to make those free throws near the end. If he does, the Terps probably win.

The interior passes still have to get better.

This team still has way too many turnovers. Not having an ACC-caliber PG doesn't help. Howard is just not what he was hoped to be ... whether it's the injuries slowing him down or what, he's not getting it done in league play. He's still a good ball handler and helps the team, but not a "25-30 minutes of playtime" way.

This team also is still quite young. I'm not giving up on Turgeon, nor am I giving up on this team ... but I really hope they get a good win in the next game 'cause this one has to hurt.

I think they need at least 24 wins to make the tournament ... I think they need to win every game left that they're not a clear underdog in, plus probably one of Duke/UNC. I think they have the talent to do it, but they need to put it together.

As for Len, I'd love to see him stay another year but I doubt that'll happen unless he really wants to be in college. He'll get better practice (and more of it) if he goes to the NBA, not to mention the money. Given that the NBA draft is often more about potential than about performance, I assume he'll still be a first-rounder.
