A healthy Britton makes the rotation IMO.
Yeah he's the reason I've been lukewarm on any pitcher that wasn't better than Hammel. Him healthy is better and cheaper than anything you are going to sign. If he's your 5th starter, you should be doing pretty well.
Tillman, Gonzo and Chen all have their own question marks, but with Bundy and Gausman both looming at points this season I think we'll come out of it ok.

Yep....Holding onto what we have and giving them the chance is better than signing anyone.Yeah he's the reason I've been lukewarm on any pitcher that wasn't better than Hammel. Now, I prefer to trade some of these guys and then get Porcello but we are much better off staying with what we have vs signing Saunders or someone like that.
Saunders just doesn't help us nor does he represent an upgrade. He is probably more of a sure thing to throw 180 innings but 180 ineffective innings isn't worth that much.

Well I hear Linda Ronstadt is looking for a guitar player.

It amuses me that Britton has joined the Brady Bunch since his stated reason for signing with Boras was the training facilities.
The "facilities" is the standard excuse you hear from guys signing with Boras who don't want to sound like they are money hungry.

I think Britton will have a better year than Saunders, and I wouldn't be surprised if he out pitches Tillman too.
Same here.

I'm all for guys working out with Brady and getting in better shape. I just think it's a little funny because, IIRC, Reimold and Matusz were two of the guys last year. Reimold got injured and missed the whole season and Matusz was terrible for most of it. Who else worked out with Brady last year? Tillman? Arrieta?
Last I checked Reimold was crushing when he got hurt, an injury that couldn't be prevented by fitness level. Matusz's results were not what folks wanted but still a huge improvement over his worst ERA by a starter ALL TIME 2011. Tillman also worked out with him and showed increased velocity. So did Hunter who was noticeably fitter last season.

All I meant is that it's kind of funny that 3 of the 4 players mentioned either had bad luck (Reimold) or bad seasons (Matusz & Hunter failed as starters). Getting in the best possible shape can only be beneficial.
