Doe anyone agree with Roch, that Kyle Lohse would profile as a No. 1 starter on the O's?

Well, he is more established and more durable than Hammel...and to go with the durability, he eats innings.MASN: As the rotation turns

I don't really see how Lohse fits financially with what the Orioles have been seemingly willing to spend. Nor do I like the idea of losing our 1st round pick to sign him. Personally, I'd rather just go with a cheaper option and use the extra money to sign or trade for a hitter. If you don't give up a pick to sign a veteran starter, you could also potentially use the compensation pick we've got in a trade (would depend on the player if I'd want to give that, or a similarly valued prospect up).

If he could produce the same numbers in CY that he has in STL sure. But he cant. His MIN numbers would be worse here even.MASN: As the rotation turns

I think Lohse would probably be better here than many of us would give him credit for but with the money it would take to sign him, he won't be nearly worth it.If he could produce the same numbers in CY that he has in STL sure. But he cant. His MIN numbers would be worse here even.
I would expect a 4.1-4.3 ERA and a lot of innings for 2013 but he will start to decline from there.
He will still be a viable member of the staff but not enough to justify cost plus loss of pick.

There is a reason STL starters never leave willingly Not that I disagree with your post.I think Lohse would probably be better here than many of us would give him credit for but with the money it would take to sign him, he won't be nearly worth it.

Nothing substantial that I can recall, but Roch tends to bring things up like this. Usually he won't even go there unless he's heard something, even if it's not very likely.I'm not even sure why Roch brings up Lohse's name. There's been no indication that we're even looking at him, is there?

No, but as we've seen countless times, what gets reported as happening in the media and what is actually happening sometimes have absolutely no relation to each other. I don't think Roch has any insight here that others don't have, if he did he would report that he heard something not just throw his name out there.I'm not even sure why Roch brings up Lohse's name. Same reason that I brought up Berkman at the Depot. Cause they are free agents. It's more a wondering out loud thing than saying something is going to happen. Gotta have something to write about when it's slow.

100% correct here. Roch is pretty much good at speculating, being humorous, and breaking things after they are done or just before the ink dries. I doubt there is any truth to the O's being interested in Lohse unless those 3 year deals at 15M aren't out there at all. The O's aren't going there.
