Fielder gets 9/214 from DETROIT! Wow.

Crazy stupid money. Fortunately, it's so outlandish that there won't be a single person calling in saying the Orioles should have beaten that. I mean, nobody honestly could think that we should have given him a 10/$250M deal, do they? Because that's what it would've taken to beat the deal from Detroit, where he will have a very good shot to be in the playoffs for at least the next few seasons.

Fielder may have turned down the O's offer anyway. As noted above, he gets a chance to go back to the playoffs. And, for what it's worth, his dad played a long time for the Tigers. I'm glad it's over. Back to reality.

Nobody in Baltimore spoke to more writers/analysts on merits of O's signing Fielder. Most were opposed.Those that advocated did not do so at 9yrs $200M+.
