Henry has a great shot at OPOY. Thats the award for him.

They need to just change the award system. Create a "cy young" sort of award for just QB's. Then have the OPOY for everyone else. MVP is going to almost always go to a QB.

Obviously brings up the thought of Lamar Jackson getting a third MVP.  Personally right at this point, I'm giving it to Derrick Henry.  The guy is on pace to break the single season rushing record, and maybe the TD scoring record.   He is currently #1 in the biggest 4 rushing categories:  Yards, TDs, Yards per carries, and attempts.  Nobody has done that since Jim Brown in 1963.  If he maintains that pace, I don't see how you don't give him the MVP award.  Accomplishing something that hasn't been done in over 60 years is pretty impressive.

If he hits 2000 yards that trophy is his.

I mean, I havent wavered. If he can't prove it when it counts, all this flash and sizzle means literally nothing.

He'll have his chance.

It would be nice if his OC helps him out when the playoffs start.

I believe I saw that our O is 6th all time in DVOA through 8 weeks. I see it going higher through 9 weeks

3rd all time through 9 weeks. Just behind the 2018 Chiefs and 2007 Pats.

It wasn't the last time he hit 2000 yards.

Imagine tuning out to the Lamar version of the Ravens because they lost the AFCCG last year. (Not calling out just one guy, quite a few people have that prove it when it counts attitude).

I mean, we've suffered through Grbac, Redman, Boller, Anthony Wright, elderly McNair.

Even the post Kubiak modern Flacco Ravens were a boring chore to watch.

We're spoiled with this level of entertainment every week.

Anyone who can't enjoy what Lamar is doing deserves their unhappiness.  This is special.

Those teams through 9 weeks or those teams final numbers?

Even if Lamar continues his current pace, throws for 4600+ yards, 40+ TD's to only 4 INT's while also running for 1000+ yards and another 5+ TD's ?

The last RB that hit 2000 yards other than him won it. Might come down to TDs

I'm probably in the minority on this , but I don't see him hitting those numbers. If he does obviously game over. However I think if Henry breaks Dickerson's record , it'll be close even if Lamar hits those numbers. I obviously don't get a vote but a record breaker might be hard to vote against.

I think if Henry had his 2000 yard rushing season in 2023 he would have probably won MVP over Lamar.  2023 was kind of a muddled QB year without really exceptional seasons from anyone.
