What did Oweh do wrong? It wasn't a late hit. He didn't hit him high. Are you suggesting he lifted and drove Dak to the ground? That's about the only argument you could make.
My mistake, I was talking about the shot to the head. That happened in the Ravens game, right? Or was that a different game?

Illegal contact should be reserved for legit significant contact. You really jam a guy downfield (not at the line), grab and hold a jersey, lock an arm, whatever... fine. But not for ticky tack chit.
It gets more and more ludicrous with each passing year. What I find interesting and irritating is that you almost never see a flag for someone hitting Lamar hard. I've seen him take shots as he was going out of bounds, and nothing happens. And he's certainly taken shots that were more egregious than that idiotic Prescott tackle yesterday. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I'm really beginning to think that the Ravens are being signaled out and being made an example of. Yesterday's 4th quarter debacle was especially appalling in my opinion. Those incompetents were determined to get the Cowboys back in the game. Almost every time it looked like the Ravens had stopped a drive, here comes another flag to keep it going. Harbaugh seemed surprisingly subdued yesterday because he's usually ranting up and down the sideline, screaming at the officials over calls. It's bad enough this team can't get off the field on defense late in games, but these officials make it even more problematic. I think I can speak for everyone on this forum that we're sick of this shit week after week. I don't know what the Ravens are going to do about it, but something needs to be done.

Mahomes got a call for RTP for a shot to the head.
The Oweh call was ludicrous. He had a perfect form tackle as Dak was releasing the ball. Didn't drive him to the ground. Didn't lift him. Really didn't even land on him with his body weight. In all honesty, that should be one of the examples of how the NFL wants QB's to get tackled. There was 0 chance for injury.
But everyone loves a great comeback, so we gotta make sure we keep the momentum going for the trailing team.
It doesn't help that it seems like KC gets bailed out by bad calls on the other team, or terrible non-calls like the clear Pitts PI in the endzone. It's every week they get beneficial treatment by the refs.

I think the rules are fine, the refs just ignored them or were too shocked that a lineman touched the ball to notice that there wasn't a receiver around. It was intentional grounding because he didn't throw it in the vicinity of an eligible receiver. Doesn't matter if the ball hits a lineman before it hits the ground if there isn't anyone you're allowed to throw to that it was intended for. Should've been both penalties called on the play, with the Ravens getting to decline the illegal touching and accept the grounding.
Abysmal call. And I blame Harbaugh quite a bit here for not convincing the refs during his discussions with them. That's an area you gotta remind them of the obvious and get that flag dropped.
If the NFL doesn't come out and say that was the wrong call they have just set precedence that whenever a QB is about to be sacked all he has to do is throw the ball to a lineman to avoid an intentional grounding call. I don't think they want to go down that road.

I don't think it's conspiracy theorist to say that some QBs get more protection and more calls than others. Usually marquee vets that work the head ref the whole game. I guess that works on some. I would be annoyed by a player chirping at me constantly and would probably err the other way, but to each their own.
The first time Flacco and company went to New England I distinctly remember a play where Suggs was rushing Brady, and as he's being pushed to the ground, he lightly brushed the side of Brady's leg. Didn't hit him or drive through his leg, just brushed it on the way to the ground. Didn't knock him over, didn't even move him. But on video Tommy clear as day looked at the ref, who nodded his head in agreement, then threw a flag.
Same game where I think it was Mason who got an arm bar on him from a DB in the endzone last drive late 4th, no call. Then a 4th down pass to Clayton who clearly got hit before the ball arrived, no call.
Joe wasn't allowed to look at the ref and have his order for a flag filled unfortunately. Hell in SB 47, Joe got blasted clearly late and out of bounds near the 49ers goal line like midway through the 4th quarter. No flag. Zero chance that if Brady had received the same exact hit in the same exact scenario that no flag gets thrown. Zero. Same play I think Pitta was BLATANTLY held by a LB in the endzone when he tried to make a cut, middle of the endzone right in front of the back judge... no flag.
Consistency would be nice...

It’s a loophole but I don’t think it changes in season, for one, safeties don’t happen all that often, and two, I don’t recall a time when a rule was changed during the season. I mean the drop hip tackle caused numerous injuries last season and it was outlawed until the offseason. Oh right, you’re a cherry picker!
