They showed it last night. Adley got hit on the hand in late June while he was catching. They said since then his numbers have been awful. So could it be a hand injury that caused all of this?

It makes no sense to me that Hyde or Elias would allow him to play if they knew an injury was adversely affecting his play to the point where his offensive production was in the kind of free fall it's been. At some point, even Adley would have said something that he just can't hit or throw with the pain. So, I still don't buy the injury theory. I just think he's gotten into a lot of bad habits at the plate and maybe the responsibilities of catching have been taking its toll on him mentally. Especially with the way the team has been playing over the past 3 months. I'm sure everyone feels the pressure in varying degrees. He obviously hits better when DH'ing so I'm surprised the brass hasn't put two and two together and given McCann more of the catching duties.

Opinion: We are playing for today and the next few weeks and I am catching James way more than Adley. He's just better right now.

I really doubt that he played through an injury.
If he did, or if he is, that's on him.
I really think that he has worn down.

He toggles, has had years where he's been better from the left side.Adley has also hit .323 as a right handed batter as opposed to .220 left handed. Much more at bats left handed but you wouldn't think it would be that much of a difference.
We only noticed the huge uppercut swing as a LHB tough, maybe the issues with that swing are a big part of the splits this year. Though again it didn't seem to be a problem for the first half.

I still say the problem is more mechanical than fatigue. I'm sure they've been working with him over the past couple of months but how that translates to a game situation and specific pitcher could be a challenge. He's definitely got some things to work on in the off season because this deterioration as a hitter is alarming to say the least.
