This w/involve two separate moves

The trade would come from Basallo, Mountcastle, Mullins, Bradfield, Povich or McDermott, Stowers, Norby and a couple of other prospects of the type they traded yesterday.

I'd want a Skubal, Crochet, Logan Gilbert (Seattle) level starter.

A very good reliever (not the Oakland guy maybe) but a good one.

Would you make these moves?

That's quite a range of names, talent, and potential you just threw together.

Would be surprised if Basallo, Norby, and Bradfield (or whatever combo from that list) lands Skubal.

Right. Basallo, Kjerstad, Bradfield + just for Skubal

If you believe the rumors, to get a Skubol it will take at least a Holliday or Mayo + mid range prospects and maybe an already in the majors guy.  Detroit has said they want to build around Skubol as their ace, but if someone overwhelmed them they would certainly consider it.  Elias has said Holliday and Mayo are untouchable.  Again, if that is to be believed.  If it is, Skubol will not be an Oriole and neither will any other top of the line pitcher.

Elias needs to decide whether he is all in on this year's O's as a WS contender in which case you deal the blue chips to get to the top, or whether you are willing to deal for mediocre hit or miss guys like last year with Flaherty and take your chances in the playoffs.

Don't think that's getting it done, either.

There is a third category of pitcher. And that's the category I think we should be adding (already added one, need one more).
