We can talk about next offseason when it comes but they will surely have work to do on the rotation. For now, you just have to see how things play out over the next month. If we have to acquire a guy like Gibson we can make tat work and get away with it. If there are better guys available then we will see if we make a play. Luzardo scares me considering what it will take to get him. Not sure if there will be any other potential #2 SP out there. Pitching is just so damn tough to come by and teams want a lot for it.

What we have to trade

Its going to come down to one simple question. How much does any given deal increase the probability of a deep playoff run and a shot at the WS?
Cost vs reward. I'd rather go for step change improvements over minor increments given a choice.

How awesome would it be, if Baker has turned a corner, and yesterday's outing is the new him. Dream big, right?
Good news! I saw a dog today.

We can’t be afraid to go for it. This org does scouting and development better than anyone, they will replenish. Go for the glory. And this is where I’ll differ from Mack, I’m okay getting non-rental stud relievers, despite the cost.
Yeah this is one of the most important things to consider for trades, it's much easier to avoid viewing players as untouchable if you're an org who is confident you can repeat the process with other players. Every player is unique, obviously, but if you can turn Westburg into a quality major leaguer from pick 30 and Basallo into a stud prospect from international development, etc then you should believe you can continue doing that with players you're not getting from tanking top-5 picks

It would be even more awesome if Elias pulled another Lopez and sent him somewhere for an even better reliever and an SP
Full disclosure: I wasn't a fan of the Lopez trade at the time bit long term it's worked out great
